No. 18: L.A. Looks Styling Gel
No design is quite as evocative of the '90s aesthetic as the L.A. Looks label. Plus, this stuff really came in handy as we navigated every trend, from slicked-back ponies to tiny knots to hair that was crimped or scrunched nearly beyond recognition.

No. 17: Accordion Headbands
Pain is beauty, right? That's the philosophy we had to adopt while wearing these massive combs/torture devices.

No. 16: Hot Sticks Rollers
These long, flexible cylinders offered an easy-to-use alternative to hot rollers. Unfortunately, the sad, wilted curls that they actually delivered may have left something to be desired -- but points for novelty.

No. 15: Brown Lipstick
Nothing time-stamps a '90s-set show or movie quite like a coffee-colored pout. At the time, celebs like Gen-X darling Winona Ryder, had us high-tailing it to the store in pursuit of similar earthy hues (think: L'Oréal's Toasted Almond and Revlon's Toast of New York).

No. 14: The Topsy Tail
The '90s was full of too-good-to-be-true infomercials, but the one that dazzled us the most was the Topsy Tail. This little piece of plastic transformed boring hair into trendy inside-out ponytails before our eyes.
