One of the main insecurities of women when going for a bikini wax is being too hairy. If that's the case, relax: It's normal and nobody's judging you. Plus, it's recommended to go to the salon when your hair is at least a quarter of an inch long.
Oh and don't even think about shaving before going. Aside from defeating the purpose of waxing, your skin will become extra sensitive to the wax, which will increase your risk for irritation and inflammation.

Wear something light and loose when you head to the salon. Ditch your leggings and skinny jeans as tight clothing may cause friction. You'll also want to skip those sexy lace panties since they may lead to itchiness and irritation. Go for that comfy underwear instead — and maybe a breezy, breathable skirt or dress?

Talk about precious cargo: You've got to be extra careful and cautious when selecting your salon. Check reviews online or ask for recommendations from some of your trusted gal pals. And above all, pay attention to two main things: professionalism and sanitary practices.
If you go to a salon and see them double dipping their spatula into the wax, or find yourself feeling uncomfortable in any way, trust your gut and leave.

Make yourself feel less self conscious by taking a shower and cleaning your pubic area on the day of your appointment. Also, a warm bath or shower will help toopen up your pores which will make the waxing process less painful. You can also use body scrubs if you have ingrown hairs or vaginal acne. However, if you choose to exfoliate, be sure to do this days before the appointment.

Some salons have disposable underwear or pants for a basic bikini waxing. However, if you're going Brazilian and having all of your hair (front and back) removed, you've got to prepare because your lower body will be fully exposed. It's normal to be self-conscious, but remember that the waxer has seen hundreds of pubic areas — and it's just work for her.
