Make yourself feel less self conscious by taking a shower and cleaning your pubic area on the day of your appointment. Also, a warm bath or shower will help toopen up your pores which will make the waxing process less painful. You can also use body scrubs if you have ingrown hairs or vaginal acne. However, if you choose to exfoliate, be sure to do this days before the appointment.

Some salons have disposable underwear or pants for a basic bikini waxing. However, if you're going Brazilian and having all of your hair (front and back) removed, you've got to prepare because your lower body will be fully exposed. It's normal to be self-conscious, but remember that the waxer has seen hundreds of pubic areas — and it's just work for her.

Your waxer will get VERY personal — perhaps even more personal than you'd expect. You might find yourself contorting into different positions to make sure that all your hair is waxed properly. You might have to raise a leg, be on all fours, etc... Awkward, right? But again, it's totally normal. (However, if you find yourself feeling really uncomfortable, don't be afraid to speak up.)

We've already mentioned this before, but just in case you're wondering how much it hurts, well, the pain varies for every woman. Don't be too scared though: The anticipation and anxiety are usually worse than the procedure. Having a regular waxing appointment will also desensitize you from the pain, so you'll probably have the worst experience on your first.
And if you want to lessen the pain, pop an Ibuprofen an hour before the session. You can also request a numbing spray.

After all is waxed and done, don't freak out when you experience irritation and notice some redness. (It's also normal to have a a little bleeding.) However, if you're noticing cuts and bruises, that's another story. You can go back to your aesthetician or doctor for consultation.
