The thing celebrity makeup artist Mickey Williams likes best about the clumpy lash trend: "You can really change the shape of the eye with a single product." Apply it thicker at the top and bottom centers to give yourself a wide-eyed doll look, or layer it on again and again to the outer corners for a sultry stare. We're particularly obsessed with this sexy look from Alberta Ferretti.

Try: Guerlain Maxi Lash So Volume, $30. I looked in the mirror and exclaimed "holy sh*t!" (in a good way) after putting on this mascara. One coat of the wet, volumizing formula gives you lush, bold lashes. To really amp up the drama, try adding three or more.

Try pairing your clumpy lashes with something more classic, like a soft baby pink lipstick or a clean matte red lipstick, advises Sir John. "When you mix in something a bit more daring with a beauty staple there is a nice, harmonious balance."

Try: Stila Huge Extreme Lash Mascara, $23. Not only will layering on multiple coats of this mascara give you larger-than-life volume, length and curl, it's made with lash conditioners so, while your lashes may look spiky and on-trend, they'll still remain soft.

"If you get a nice, thick coat of mascara on lashes (especially at the base) it can work at defining the eyes without the need for additional products like liner," says Williams.

Try: Younique Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes, $29. Williams says that lash fiber mascara is great for women who are afraid to try the trend -- it adds length and fullness, which balances the clumping or "fluffing," as she calls it.

To get your lashes ultra clumpy, Williams says you can take tweezers and pinch the top of your lashes as they start to dry to give them a spiked look.

Try: Clinique Chubby Lash Fattening Mascara, $17. The best part about this mascara is that you can control exactly how dramatic you want to be. A couple of coats gives you plush volume, but keep piling it on (and use Williams' trick from above) for a stunning look that will turn heads.

"Personally I like the look with lighter liners or right up against skin," says Williams. "If you have too dark of a liner or shadow near the lash line you will lose the look." For an edgy but wearable look, she recommends lining your eyes with white or pink to really bring out the contrast (bonus: it works on all skin tones).

Try: Lancome Grandiose Mascara, $32. This gives lashes a great, fat, glossy look, says Williams. The bent wand also makes it incredibly easy to grab even the tiniest lashes, and works especially well on the inner and outer corners.
