Celebs like Lucy Hale and Kristen Stewart have chopped their lobs into bobs, indicating a trend toward short cuts for fall. "It's traditional and will never go out of style," says Sturdivant-Drew of the bob.

Celebrity stylist Sarah Potempa, creator of the Beachwaver Co. line of hair tools, points to the choppy bob modeled by Lea Seydoux as a favorite look for the season. Just barely "longer than chin length" with a "clean middle part" and "blunt ends," this look is equally chic when worn sleek or wavy.

To get Seydoux's tousled look, curl random sections of hair away from the face, then use your fingers to comb out the curls and slightly muss the hair at your crown. Finish with texturizing spray or powder.

Ideal for: any hair texture and thickness

Until recently, "pyramid head" and "triangle hair" were considered major hair faux pas. But lately, this geometric hairstyle is becoming a coveted look.

"I predict a triangular look will be the next must-have style," says stylist/colorist Janelle Chaplin, global creative director for O&M hair products. Sturdivant-Drew also believes that one-length, curly cuts are trending. "With this texture and style, it's a bold statement and look."

For this look, ask your stylist for a blunt cut; any natural texture in the hair will create more volume at the ends, which will achieve a triangular shape. If you have fine hair, create some body and texture by tying it in loose braids while you sleep.

Ideal for: very curly hair, with full or medium thickness

If you're thinking of transitioning your black, relaxed hair to its natural texture, now is the time. Style-setters like Solange and "Scandal" star Kerry Washington are gorgeous examples of the trend toward full, curly, natural hair.

"Kinky, curly texture with a long, layered scissor cut on a heart-shaped face is very modern and sexy," says Sturdivant-Drew, who gave Washington this voluminous style for the 2016 Emmy Awards. Roche agrees that "square layers" are superhot for very curly hair.

"If you have a tight curl pattern and want volume in your hair, this style is definitely in," Sturdivant-Drew advises. "If your curl pattern is thin, you can add volume to it by clipping in TSD Hair Extensions Kinky Curl and brushing it out."

Ideal for: curly hair of any thickness

"No matter what the style, it's all about the fringe" this season, says Roche. While smooth, 1960s-inspired bangs (see: Alexa Chung, Zooey Deschanel) have been popular in recent years, they're trendy for every hair texture right now. "Fringe is back and it's a great way to update your hair, straight or curly," says Vigi.

One of the most surprising trends to emerge this season: big, "Flashdance"-inspired curls with bangs. Model Mica Arganaraz has been wearing the cut for ages, and Mandy Moore recently got on the bandwagon of this throwback style.

If you already have curly hair, ask your stylist to cut layers and feathery bangs. If your curls need more oomph, this retro style begs for a retro styling tool: sponge rollers.

Ideal for: straight or wavy hair of any thickness

If you think the lob is over, think again -- stylish actresses like Sarah Hyland and Priyanka Chopra have stepped out with freshly cut lobs this fall. Our experts confirm the lob isn't going anywhere this season, but it's got a new twist.

"The lob will still be in," says Leal, "but the wave pattern is going to be more relaxed and edgy." The messy beach waves of summer are gone; now, the lob has a subtle bend with smooth ends.
