Fabulous Food Flags
Sometimes advertising agencies produce lame ads (Sit n' Sleep's "Your killing me, Larry" comes to mind). Sometimes -- as with those his/her couples lubricant spots -- they produce provocative/unsavory ones. And, sometimes, just sometimes, they produce simply beautiful, to the point mini-masterpieces.

Such is the case with a new campaign from Australian advertising agency WHYBIN\TBWA that was designed to promote the Sydney International Food Festival -- Oz's biggest culinary attraction which, last year hosted nearly a million foodies as well as some of the world's most noted chefs.

To convey the mood of the Festival in print ad form, the creative team replicated the flags of 17 countries -- using foodstuffs that are prevalent in each.

The results are at once striking and remarkable.

If you have a couple of minutes to kill today, don't blow them on some cutesy cat video. Do yourself a favor and absorb these food flags (and note with a tinge of dismay, the materials used to represent the good old US of A.)

Bon appétit, buen provecho, buon appetito and so forth.
