1. Mist a frizz-taming gloss like John Frieda Frizz-Ease 100% Shine Glossing Mist, $5.39, onto dry hair. 2. Using a soft bristle brush, gather your hair up high into a ponytail at the top of your crown. Be sure to keep hair smooth as you go. 3. Secure your hair at the crown with an elastic. Then wrap a 2-inch section of your hair around the base of the elastic to conceal it. 4. Tease your ponytail ends gently, then wrap a clear elastic around your ponytail about two inches from your elastic. Wrap a section of your hair around the clear elastic to conceal it. Repeat for the rest of the length of your hair. 5. Gently tug on each section in between the elastics to create a bubble appearance, then finish with a strong-hold hairspray.

Knot Raining (On My Parade)
1. On dry, detangled hair, wrap 1-inch sections of your hair around a styling wand. Make sure to wrap your hair around the wand as closely to the roots as possible, then let loose. 2. Once your hair is curled, brush through the curls to create loose waves. Then create a shallow side part. 3. Separate 2-inch sections of your hair on either side of your part. Clip them off to the side as you gather the rest of your hair into a ponytail at the back of your crown. 4. With your ponytail secure, take one of the sections on the side of your part and divide it into two. Then create three loose knots by tying them together. Space your knots out to achieve the twisted look. Repeat on the opposite side. 5. Pull the two knotted pieces back to your ponytail and wrap them around the elastic to conceal it. Then, secure the pieces with bobby pins. 6. Finish by spritzing with shine serum, like Suave Professionals Keratin Infusion Smooth and Shine Serum, $4.49.

Rainbow Right
1. On dry hair, create a deep center part. Once your part reaches the top of your crown, create two horizontal parts down to the back of your ear, making three sections. 2. Clip the front pieces out of the way. Then, gather your hair at the nape of your neck and begin rolling it to the roots of your hair. Secure the roll at your roots with bobby pins. 3. Unclip the front portions of your hair, then begin twisting one side of your hair from the start of your part, along the sides of your head, and down behind your ear. Twist normally down to the ends, and then wrap the section around the roll you formed. Secure it in place with bobby pins. 4. Repeat on the opposite side, twisting your hair down to the ends, then wrapping your hair around the roll and twist you created. Secure with bobby pins. 5. Finish with a flexible-hold hairspray.

Too Haute For Hoods
1. Create a side part, then mist a sea salt texturizing spray, like Aquage Sea Salt Texturizing Spray, $18.00, onto dry hair. Scrunch the ends to create a wavy, tousled look. 2. Next, take a 2-inch section of your hair just above your ear and braid it tightly down through to the ends. Pull it over the front of your hair about two inches from your hairline. 3. Grab another 2-inch section of your hair just above your other ear and connect it to the braid you just created. Braid it down to the ends, then wrap it around the back of your crown all the way to the beginning of your first braid. 4. Tie the pieces together to secure. Use a mini bobby pin to secure as desired. 5. Finish with a light mist of hairspray.
When I wake up and see rain coming down outside, my first thought is, "Well, I'm going to look like crap today." I've never seen a point in really doing my hair if the rain and humidity will turn it into a frizzy, droopy heap in 60 seconds. I go for the classic, easy (okay, lazy) rainy day hair: a quick topknot or messy bun.
But after seeing all of the model-cool slicked-back hairstyles on the runways at New York Fashion Week, assistant editor Tiffanie got inspired ... and I was her guinea pig. These twists on a basic slicked-back hairstyle look crazy high-fashion, but won't wither in a rainstorm. Best of all? You don't have to be a hairstyling savant to accomplish these surprisingly sophisticated looks. Click through and ditch the topknot.
