"I recommend a comprehensive multivitamin product like Gummyy," says registered dietitian Staci Gulbin, MS, MEd, RD, LDN. "This vegetarian-based premium multivitamin (scheduled to launch later this fall) is a unique formulation of not only all of the essential vitamins and minerals you need, but also important compounds like omega-3, collagen, and CoQ10."

"Gummy vitamins are a great alternative to swallowing a horse pill every morning," says Linn. "They do have a pleasant taste, with some added sugar, but not enough to cause any concern," she adds.

"Since pill vitamins have been around for longer, manufactures have had more time to perfect the formula," says Linn. Because of this, she says that pill vitamins have a longer shelf life.

"Independent reports tend to suggest that gummy vitamins are more often harder to manufacture when compared to traditional tablets," Fine tells TotalBeauty. She explains that this is because it's hard to measure (some companies do a better job than others) the correct amount of vitamins and minerals in the gummy.

"Due to the chemical enzyme amylase, the digestion of the gummy vitamin begins in the mouth, breaking down the gummy before it travels to the stomach," says nutritionist Serena Poon. Once in the stomach, she explains that more digestive enzymes (as well as acidity level) will degrade the gummy further, which does not leave much to be absorbed in the small intestine.
