Although designers like Simone Rocha, Vicky Zhang and Dolce & Gabbana all showed some interpretation of the trend, Versace's use of this typically sweet accessory might have been the most surprising. Donatella, of course, made her barrettes unmistakably Versace with tiny gilded medallions that were way more opulent-glam than juvenile.

They may have been a shock to the system upon first glance, but Mansur Gavriel's scrunchies 2.0 were not a total recreation of the old-school accessory. The 2018 versions sent down the runway were made of vintage Italian fabric (chic) in an abundance of colors and prints. The price tag has also been updated for the modern age: these designer options are currently available for $35 a pop.
