Last year, the top hair color trends were all about edgy, ashy blondes and gorgeous copper tones. And while many techniques will carry over to this year, expert colorists predict that dark pigments, hair ribbons and golden blonde tones will reign supreme in 2019.

"I believe vibrant, dark hues will make the runway this year, as well as deep lavenders and shades of cobalt," says celebrity hairstylist Paul Labrecque of Paul Labrecque Salon and Spa. All of these colors give dark hair depth and reflection, he says.

"Women who are light but have more red tones in their skin can add strawberry to their golden locks, giving a warmth that illuminates any hazel in their eyes," Labrecque says. Remember, your eyes can always guide you when picking the right hair color, he adds.

"The icy blonde will start to transition into its healthier option — the golden blonde," says Cynthia Diersen, a creative artistic team member at CHI Haircare. If you want your blondes to glow, she recommends leaving some golden tones in the hair to keep the hair healthier and more shine reflective.

"Ribboning is a hot trend that my clients and I are loving for 2019 hair color," says Beth Minardi, founder and creative director of Beth Minardi Signature. She says that ribboning works with any base hair color and can be made darker or lighter than the rest of the hair.
