Let's just be blunt, shall we? Blow-dryers are not created equal. While all hot tools labeled as such eventually dry hair, it's the way in which they do so that sets them apart. Whether that means a sleek, lightweight design for a less achy arm by the end of your dry; or a futuristic number with so many add-ons that you could lose count, you're sure to encounter a handful of different hair dryer models that beg the question: Which is really the best?

You may have heard the name a time or two, but for all you know he's just some dude in the industry. While he is in fact a man and he is in the hair care industry, it would be more appropriate to say that he's the celebrity hairstylist who set the bar. With a client list that ticks off names like Kate Bosworth, Olivia Wilde, Ellen Pompeo, Gisele Bundchen, Karlie Kloss and the like, we think it's safe to say he's someone you can have faith in. After all, have you seen their gorgeous manes? Beyond working one-on-one with some of Hollywood's most elite, Harry Josh is also among the most sought-after hairstylists in the world. Nope, not New York City, not the state, not even the country -- the world. So, you can understand the excitement for this launch then, yes?

In case a little name-dropping doesn't do it for you, well, we get it. Good for you, inquisitiveness is key in beauty -- and, if we're being honest and deep -- in life.
The Harry Josh Pro Tools Ultra Light Pro Dryer
has been hungrily anticipated ever since Harry Josh first launched the 2000-- aka one of the most shared hairdryers on social media and recipient of multiple back-to-back "Best Of" awards. While it was the blow dryer to beat, Harry Josh still saw ways he could improve upon it, and tapped hairstylists and fans for recommendations.
And thus, the Ultra Light Pro Dryer was born. While the tool comes in the same signature mint-green shade as the OG dryer, it boasts a handful of updates that make it drool-worthy. From its streamlined, energy-efficient design to weighing in just under one pound, this new blow-dryer will make your DIY blowout sesh resemble a fancy blowout bar, as opposed to a weightlifting studio.
Now, just because we loved what was on the outside, we didn't forget that it's what's on the inside that counts. It was time to put this pretty little green hair machine to the test to find out once and for all if it lives up to its three biggest promises.

Reality: As we held the ultra-lightweight hair dryer in our hands, we were skeptical that it would be able to blow at 94 mph. After all, how can something so dainty pack so much power? Well, consider us impressed. Whereas a typical dry takes anywhere from 20-25 minutes, this bad boy brought it in between 10-15.
As a side note, just in case you're curious just how powerful 94 mph of blowing power feels, no, it does not blow you over like a wind storm or anything of the sort. We momentarily wondered, as well, before switching the power button on.
In all seriousness though, the best part about the faster drying time is that it means your hair can be exposed to heat for less time, which ultimately means less damage. Geesh, thanks, Harry.

Reality: Welllllllllll, the key words are "as noisy". When we first read this claim we were expecting to turn our Ultra Light on without even noticing it was on -- kind of like a Prius. Unfortunately, that technology is not yet available, so if you turn this on while your roommate is mid-phone-conversation, you can fully expect her to look at you like "WTH are you doing?"as she walks into the next room to hear. In other words, it's quieter than other dryers, yes, but you won't be able to, say, blow out your hair while Netflixing.
