"A cotton t-shirt will sop up just the right amount of water and moisture from your locks leaving the perfect canvas for beachy waves." Let hair air dry, or for more volume, use a finger-like diffuser on the end of your blow dryer.

For a DIY alternative, make Russo's homemade sea salt spray at home: Fill an eight-ounce spray bottle with water. Add a few tablespoons of sea salt to the bottle (for more texture, add more salt), and finish by adding a few drops of moisturizing product like Moroccanoil or your daily conditioner. Shake, spray and enjoy your Ariel-like hair.

It seems counter-productive to use a flat iron to create curls, but Malafronte swears this method will create more modern, natural-looking beach waves than the big, bouncy curls you get from using a curling iron. Start by separating hair into one-inch sections. Next, Russo says to clamp down the flat iron approximately three inches from the root and rotate the iron in 180-degree turns about every inch as you go down the length of the hair. Finish by spraying with a stronghold hairspray like Rusk Freezing Spray Humidity-Resistant Hairspray Extreme Hold.
