Okay, so we're a little biased about this Instagram post. But most of us can probably agree that Gwen Stefani and Urban Decay announcing their new makeup collaboration was one of the year's most exciting beauty moments.

Only six Instagram accounts in the world got to break the news, and @TotalBeautyEditors was one of them. We've since gotten our hands on Gwen's highly anticipated eye shadow palette (which launched and then promptly sold out on November 22), and it has made us all the more excited for the rest of the collection.

Selena Gomez was body-shamed on Instagram this summer after a series of paparazzi shots revealed that the 23-year-old had acquired a few (beautiful, healthy) curves since her days as a Disney Channel child star. Baffling, we know.

Instead of shying away from the trolls, Selena instantly retaliated with one of the hottest, most body-positive Instagrams of the summer. "I love being happy with me yall #theresmoretolove," she captioned the spicy shot.

Selena's unapologetic confidence earns this Insta-moment a spot in our top 4.

2015 was the year of Kylie Jenner's Instagram account -- and more specifically, the year of Kylie Jenner's lips on Kylie Jenner's Instagram account.

In May of this year, the Insta-famous baby Kardashian finally admitted to plumping up her lips with fillers. (The Internet was as shocked as the earth is flat.) Then in August, we were amused to learn that Kylie doesn't take the hullabaloo surrounding her pout too seriously.

On the afternoon of the VMAs, Kylie posted this hilarious meme of her post-filler lips ascending like the winged goddess they are, up and away from her pre-filler lips. "Mood today #VMAs," she captioned.

What exactly did Kylie's post mean? Hard to say. But we felt the irony, and we deeply enjoyed it, landing this Instagram moment among the year's top 3.

One of the highlights of our year was getting our hands on a glorious, sequin-filled package of makeup artist Pat McGrath's limited edition Gold 001 pigment. There were only 1,000 made available, and one of our editors was among the lucky few.

But following the product's reveal on Instagram was just as exciting. For a month before Gold 001 went on sale, McGrath teased the product by decorating the faces of a few high-fashion models in Paris, who then shared their gold-flecked looks on each of their personal Instagram accounts.

The buzz was explosive -- a real testament to the ability to build hype on Instagram. We are trembling with excitement for the rest of McGrath's line (and the undoubtedly gorgeous Instagrams to come).

Topping this list of the best Instagram beauty moments is our favorite hashtag of the year, #NoMakeupMonday, created by "Confident" singer Demi Lovato.

Instagram is permeated with over-the-top makeup trends, from clown contouring to fleeked-out eyebrows, and it can all be a little intimidating. Which is why it was so refreshing when Demi Lovato introduced the #NoMakeupMonday hashtag at the beginning of 2015. Each Monday and counting, the pop star has revealed a freckly, bare-faced shot in the name of authenticity and self-love, and she invites her followers to do the same. (She has since begun #FreshFacedFriday as well, which features achievable, no makeup-makeup looks each week.)

Wild makeup trends are fun to play with, of course -- but Demi's #NMM series made Mondays our favorite day to scroll through Instagram in 2015.
