"Fall is a great time to use more neutral tones from your color palette," says Annie Tevelin, makeup artist and founder of SkinOwl. Shades like light peaches, nudes, and mauve accents are great examples of these fall-friendly tones, she adds.

Match your palette to your eye color
"I always suggest tailoring your fall makeup looks to your eye color," explains Tevelin. "If your eyes are a rich cocoa brown (with gold flecks), for example, try to find bronze eyeliners, nutmeg eyeshadows, and rose gold highlighters that will bounce off the light and color of your eyes."

"Compare palettes side-by-side, and do a simple color swipe of products on your hand," says professional makeup artist Nicolette Brycki. "It's amazing how an old-fashioned trick like this can help you distinguish between underlying pigments, ultimately helping you decide what you like best."

The perfect fall colors for fair skin
"Fair skin tones should look for palettes filled with cool tan, taupe, and mauve shades," says Courtney Dailey, makeup artist and creator of WonderGloss. "I advise steering away from straight-up pink shades, as they tend to make undereye circles look more pronounced." "Olive and medium skin tones should gravitate towards copper, gold, and warm browns shades," says Dailey. She explains that these shades really open the eyes and will work with both warm and cool undertones.
