Putting on makeup just to look like you're not wearing any seems a little counterintuitive. But it only takes a glance at the Instagram accounts of supermodels like Gigi Hadid or the runways at NYFW to see why the no-makeup makeup trend is here to stay. It's all about enhancing your natural beauty in subtle, but noticeable, ways.
But achieving Beyoncé-levels of #wokeuplikethis takes a bit of work. There's just as much technique to mastering born-this-way beauty as there is to conquering liquid liner, and subtle makeup can be just as transformative as a graphic cat eye. But despite the effort no-makeup makeup takes, the end results are totally worth it.
So we got schooled on all the pro tips that go into creating a "naturally" flawless face from Bobbi Brown Education and Artistry Executive Diana Lenzion. Don't be alarmed by the sheer number of steps -- they're easy to master, and we've broken it down in GIF form. Get ready to put your best face forward.

This is me. Completely barefaced. I literally woke up like this. (Well, I did my hair for the purpose of this tutorial, but that doesn't count.)
First, Lendzion prepared my skin for makeup by applying Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream, $50, Vitamin Enriched Face Base, $56, (a rich primer/moisturizer) and Lip Balm, $20. Then, for a little extra glow, she used Extra Illuminating Moisture Balm, $63, just on my cheeks. You can add luminizer to your moisturizer to achieve a similar effect.
To cancel out the blue tones of my under-eye bags, Lendzion used a pink-y peach shade of Bobbi Brown Intensive Skin Serum Corrector, $40, a lightweight, eye-brightening pre-concealer. If you have dark circles, you don't want to skip this step. A peach-toned concealer will help neutralize dark circles.
Lendzion applied Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer, $25, in a shade slightly lighter to my skin tone underneath my eyes, then blended it out and down toward my cheekbones to give a natural-looking highlight. She also applied it to my eyelids to make them look brighter and my eyes look more awake.
