At this point, I was finally feeling confident enough in my microneedling abilities to add a peel into my routine, which Benjamin recommends doing once a week. Look for a peel that has a combination of exfoliating acids (I used Stacked Skin Care TCA Multi Acid Face Peel, $150, which contains a blend of glycolic, lactic, salicylic and phytic acids, along with TCA and retinol.) Apply a peel once a week before you micro-needle, and you'll enjoy greater exfoliation and uptake of nutrients, says Benjamin.

The peel tingled a bit upon application, and while it didn't hurt to microneedle after it dried, it certainly didn't feel pleasant. But I dutifully carried out my microneedling, for the sake of this experiment Afterward, I patted on a hydrating serum and Fresh Rose Deep Hydration Face Cream, $40, a superhydrating moisturizer.

When I woke up the next morning, I was shocked. Not to brag, but I was the epitome of #WokeUpLikeThis dewy skin. I was so glowy, in fact, I felt compelled to take a selfie first thing in the morning (and I'm not usually one for selfies, unless my makeup is bangin').

You skin turns over approximately every four weeks (depending on your age), so you can expect to see results about that fast. And results I did see. The pesky acne scar on the right side of my face is nearly gone, and each morning I wake up glowing. And it's improved not only the look of my skin, but my skin care routine -- something I'll be grateful for when I'm older.

And once you get the hang of it, microneedling adds less than a minute to your skin care routine. So is it worth it? To quote Napoleon Dynamite, "Heck yes!"
