If your mom, like my mom, favors a more low-key beauty look, this blush might just be perfect for the job: It looks a touch milquetoast in the pot, but it applies as a natural, tawny peach. The emollient formula adds a healthy dewiness to your complexion and it wears for hours. And yes, it's pricey, but she's been working on the same jar for around a year now. (I should probably tell her to throw it away; though I doubt she'd listen to me.)
She's also pretty ride-or-die for the brand's lipstick, particularly in the mauve-y berry shade China Doll. By some twist of fate, I managed to nab her two from our beauty closet, and she's almost through her second tube, a fact which causes her minor panic. "Just ask them to send you more," she's said to me more than once. In fact, I'm sure she'll ask me to send this article to Cle de Peau Beaute's PR team in the hopes that it'll convince them to give her more free lipstick.
Okay, so it might have the most mom-friendly name — but the color's lovely! Anyway, I made sure to take home two tubes of this gorgeous MLBB shade — one for me and one for her. The formula is creamy and super comfortable to wear, and I love that the finish has just the right amount of shine.
A few of my mom's friends sell Rodan + Fields, so she's always quick to nab whatever I get from the brand. One of this year's highlights was its new body cream: It's super silky and has a gel-like texture that never leaves your skin sticky. She swears on it and uses it whenever her skin's feeling dry after a shower.
Speaking of Rodan + Fields, she became quite attached to the Rodan + Fields Redefine Intensive Renewing Serum, $102 last year. Once those ran out, she quickly started hounding me for more anti-aging capsules (she likes the capsule format since she travels a lot for work). When I got these, I knew I'd have to share them with her — and we both like them a lot. They're super hydrating and though they contain retinol, they didn't cause any peeling or redness on either of us. Plus, the rose gold capsules are just plain fun to use.
