The Must-See Beauty Looks from the 2014 VMAs

Sleek hair, bold lips and Beyoncé ruled the show

Beyoncé
Proving no one puts on a show like she does, Bey took the stage last and shut the VMAs down before accepting her honorary Video Vanguard Award. Singing hits like "Drunk In Love," "Partition" and "Flawless," Beyoncé completed her show-stealing look with tousled waves, a bold pink lip and silver mani from Nails Inc.

Gwen Stefani
Giving Barbie a run for her money with hot pink lips and bleach blonde hair, Gwen has seemingly ceased aging since her No Doubt days.

Pantene Celebrity Stylist and Global Brand Ambassador, Danilo, created the deep side parted hair with knotted roll to complete Gwen's rock 'n' roll look.

Lucy Hale
The VMA Pre-Show co-host worked the biggest hair trend in the best way possible … lots of textured pieces and major volume, created by hairstylist Kristin Ess.

Iggy Azalea
Iggy sported a just-out-of-the-shower hairstyle complete with a fresh-faced makeup look. To get the look, hairstylist Sami Knight sprayed freshly washed hair with Herbal Essences Tea-Lightfully Celan Blow Dry Prep Mist working in Herbal Essences Naked Volumizing Soufflé at the roots for volume.

After blow drying the hair smooth, he teased the hair at the top of the head and brushed it away from the face before finishing with Herbal Essences Body Envy Volumizing Hairspray.

Taylor Swift
TSwift just announced she's releasing a new album with a pop sound, and the "Shake It Off" singer hit the VMAs with a new look in the form of a leg-bearing romper, green cat eye and her signature red lip -- because some things are too perfect to change.

The MTV VMAs aren't a regular awards show -- they're a cool concert with some awards. Lacking the formality of shows like the Grammys, you can expect the performances to be a little wilder, the clothes skimpier and the lipsticks bolder. From Katy Perry's revival of the all-denim ensemble, to Ariana Grande's head-to-toe leather and every crop top in between, the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards were no exception.

And while no performance can quite live up to Britney Spears's "I'm A Slave 4 U" in 2001, these were the hair and makeup highlights from this year's MTV VMAs.
