The Loop de Loop
There's something about this twisted hairstyle that reminds me of Renaissance fairs and heavy velvet gowns (in a good way), but I'm sure it looks just as medievally elegant with a nice peasant blouse and some denim cut-offs -- or you know, anything. Celebrity and editorial hairstylist Josué Perez breaks it down.

1. Towel dry hair halfway before applying a volumizing mousse (our editors love Ouidad Playcurl Volumizing Foam). Then blow dry hair completely.

2. Next "use a 1 1/4-inch curling iron, alternately curling your hair around the barrel (like a wand) and clipped in," says Perez. He prefers Rowenta Beauty Curl Active Curling Iron, which has a motorized barrel to alternate directions and help curls look more natural.

3. Shake your curls out lightly and apply dry shampoo like Bumble and Bumble Pret-a-Powder for extra volume.

4. Starting at the left side of your head, grab one piece of hair with your right hand from a top layer, and one with your left hand from the bottom layer. Cross the left hand over your right hand, letting go of the hair in your right hand as you cross over. Use bobby pins to secure the hair from your left hand.

5. Then using your free hand, grab another piece of hair, cross that over top and pin. Repeat this pattern until you've reached the other side.

6. Once at the right side, thread a twisted piece of hair through the last twist and secure with bobby pins.

7. Finish with hairspray.

Tucked Away
This delicate criss-cross ponytail keeps your hair out of your eyes, face and mind while still looking like you put an effort in. (But here's the secret -- it's not that much effort!)

1. To start this look, Perez recommends applying a lightweight styling lotion. Next, wrap your hair two times around the barrel of a curling iron and hold for just ten seconds for loose, undone waves. (Pictured is Sultra The Bombshell 1 Inch.) Apply hairspray lightly as you go, especially if you have really thin hair says Perez.

2. Next separate a large section of hair from both the left and right sides, pinning it up so it's out of the way.

3. Use a fine-tooth comb to tease the remaining hair and create lift at the crown.

4. Pull the rest of your hair into a low ponytail and spray with a flexible hold hairspray like Black 15in1 Miracle Finishing Spray.

5. Next comes the criss-cross section. Starting with the right side, take a small piece of hair and pull it across to the opposite side. Wrap the end of the hair around your hair elastic. Use a bobby pin to pin it in place. Now do the same thing on the left side, but instead of wrapping the hair around the elastic, thread it through the hair just above the hair elastic. If it's too loose, secure with a bobby pin.

6. Repeat this process until all the hair from your side is added to the base of your ponytail. Spray with a flexible-hold hairspray.

Fan Girl
When we saw Diane Kruger's voluminous bun at the 2014 Met Gala, we were instantly in awe. And then we saw it from the back. Gorgeous! Celebrity hairstylist Naté Bova tells us how you can DIY the red carpet style.

1. Start by taking a small chunk of hair from your right side and leaving it down as you pull the rest into a low ponytail, wrapping the hair tie around once. Instead of pulling your hair through the elastic on the second (or third time depending on your hair thickness), pull halfway says Bova.

2. Wrap the remaining hair around hair elastic, securing with bobby pins. Spray hairspray (Bova prefers Warren-Tricomi Style Superhold Hair Spray) around the pinned area.

3. Next, Bova instructs anchoring each side of your bun to the ends you've left out of your ponytail. Secure with bobby pins and spray, spray, spray that hairspray.

A Stylish Mess
Minka Kelly's slightly frazzled-looking braided updo is pure perfection. Not only is it fancy enough for a formal event, but the undone-on-purpose texture allows you to get a little windblown on the way there and simply not care.

1. Bova says to start by parting your hair into three section, making a low ponytail with the middle section.

2. Tease the hair in your ponytail lightly using a flat brush.

3. Next loosely twist your ponytail into a bun and secure with bobby pins. Don't be afraid if it's a little messy, says Bova.

4. Loosely French braid the sections of hair on either side of your ponytail, then wrap them around your messy ponytail, securing with bobby pins at the base.

5. Use the long end of a tail comb (pictured is the Denman DC05 Tail Comb) to loosen up your braids and pull out tendrils of hair around your hairline. Hence the undone-on-purpose look. (For added texture, get some help from a product like Neuma NeuVolume Surf Lotion).

6. Finish with hairspray and a too-die-for clip like this Arielle Chignon Wrap with Double Comb by Jennifer Behr Bridal Collection.

I have a thing for Pinterest hairstyles. I'm constantly pinning red carpet hairstyles, runway ponytails and anything that looks like it could make my hair even remotely resemble that of a Victoria's Secret model. The thing is -- I haven't accomplished a single one of them. Instead, my attempts end with me showing up late to work in a messy topknot ... again. And I know there have to be others who have the same frustrations (there's a whole website dedicated to Pinterest fails, after all). So we collaborated with a team of celebrity hairstylists to break down the products and step-by-step instructions you need to get that perfect Pinterest hairstyle every time.
