Nearly everyone has a cowlick in some shape or form, says D. This can make styling bangs a nightmare.
"The quickest, most efficient way to restyle fringe is with a dry texturizing spray or product," says Devin Graciano, director of business development and international hairdresser and hair education for Label.m. She recommends Label.m Texturizing Volume Spray because it makes hair look lived in -- but not oily -- and it's excellent for controlling stubborn whirls in your hairline. We also like Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray.
Blowing your hair dry using the aforementioned back and forth technique also helps your bangs lay flat.

Expect to trim your fringe at least every three weeks, says D. Not only does this ensure they keep their style, it also gets rid of any heat-styling-induced split ends, adds Graciano.
The good news: Townsend says most stylists will do it for free, if you schedule a time to come in. It only takes a couple minutes, but he says to please make sure to tip them. "Happy stylists equal pretty bangs," he adds.
Or, go the DIY route. "If you're a brave soul, you can trim them yourself -- just remember, a little goes a long way." His tips for trimming your own bangs: Gather your bangs so that they're pinched between your brows. Use the tip of scissors to get a diffused line, and be sure to chip away a little bit at a time.

"The natural oils from your fingers touching your hair all day are enough to ruin the bangs of a perfect blowout in no time," says Townsend, who recommends that all his fringed clients carry a bottle of dry shampoo in their purse. "Choose a starch-based dry shampoo like Dove Refresh+Care Volume and Fullness Dry Shampoo that will actually absorb the oil and refresh your locks," he advises. "A few quick sprays and you will be back to gorgeous in no time."
If you wake up and your bangs are so greasy that no amount of dry shampoo can help, Maine advises pulling the rest of your hair back and washing just your bangs. That way you can refresh your bangs without having to do a full-on shampoo.

The life cycle of bangs: "Straight across bangs will evolve into side bangs eventually and side bangs will become face framing layers, but you have to be patient," says Townsend. (We're talking three to four months here.) A hair supplement like Viviscal, he says, can help speed up the process.
In the meantime, keep awkward strands out of your face with bobby pins. "Exposed bobby pins are still chic, and this year I'm really into rose gold and silver pins," says Townsend.
Graciano adds to check out trends on the catwalk -- experiment with everything from sleek braids to a fashion-forward disheveled look.
Don't be afraid to enlist the help of your hairstylist, either. "Once your bangs have grown past your eyes, they can usually be blended into face-framing layers and disguised easily," says Maine.

At the end of the day, it's just hair. It will grow back. "While it's true that bangs do require a bit of extra maintenance, they are also an amazing way to change up your look without committing to anything too drastic," says Townsend.
Maine agrees. "They do require styling and maintenance but they aren't as bad as you may think to grow them out. Plus they are probably one of the hottest trends for this '70s-inspired year of fashion we have ahead."
