The pandemic upended things for all of us, the fashion industry included. So it was a delight to see the otherworldly creations coming down the runways during the Spring 2022 Haute Couture season.
Many of the beauty looks, like the vampire-esque lips at Viktor & Rolf and the face crystals at Fendi, offer a much-needed albeit momentary escape from reality. Other beauty looks, like the matching eyes, cheeks and lips at Celia Kritharioti and the effortless waves at Zuhair Murad, are actually quite wearable IRL. So we can't wait to try them out.

Christian Dior
Peter Philips paired white "under-eyeliner" with natural skin so eyes really popped.

Viktor & Rolf
Viktor & Rolf's haute couture show was inspired by famous vampires. You can clearly see the references via the exaggerated shoulders that were sent down the runway. The makeup also captured the vampire aesthetic with models sporting oxblood lips and blushed cheeks.

Alexis Mabille
Makeup artist Lloyd Simmonds went for gold at Alexis Mabille. He gave models shimmery double cat eyes, but left the rest of their faces bare. Beppe D'Elia left locks relatively simple so the eyes could steal the spotlight.

Yanina Couture
Beppe D'Elia also styled manes at Yanina Couture, this time taking a more fantastical approach by creating sky-high buns and top knots. The collection was inspired by the 60s so it was only fitting that the models wore graphic winged eyeliner with black above the lids and white underneath for a modern twist.
