What do you get when you combine CoverGirl, "Star Wars" and legendary makeup artist Pat McGrath? A series of six stunning makeup looks inspired by the films and a limited-edition makeup collection to celebrate "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."
McGrath designed the looks based on iconic characters in the franchise and played upon the series' ongoing theme of light vs. dark. We got a sneak peek of the Dark Apprentice (on the dark side, obviously), and learned how to recreate the fierce look, thanks to step-by-step guidance from CoverGirl's celebrity makeup artist Nil Muir.
Though it may look a little tricky to do yourself, remember, "your eyes can deceive you, don't trust them" (thanks, Obi Wan). This dark, gorgeous look only takes a handful of products and some eye shadow blending skills.
The limited edition collection consists of the SuperSizer Mascara in glorious packaging, complete with quotes from the films (our faves: "Do or do not, there is no try," and, of course, "May the force be with you"); six new intense shades of ColorLicious Lipstick; and three repackaged shades of Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Glosses.
Here's how to put the whole Jedi-worthy line to work.

To create the Dark Apprentice Look, Muir started with my eyes. The benefit is that you don't have to worry about eye shadow fallout getting all over your foundation and concealer. Also, it gives your skin care products time to set.
Step One: Use a flat brush to pat CoverGirl Flamed Out Shadow Pot in Red-Hot over the lower half of your eyelid. Layer until the color is ultra vibrant.
Step Two: Use the sponge tip of the applicator in the CoverGirl Eye Shadow Quad in Stunning Smokey to apply the darkest shade from the inner corner of your eye outward to make a point, then draw it in to connect with the outer corner of your eye. Muir says that, contrary to what most people believe, sponge tips are useful because they help you achieve sharp, defined lines and create less fallout than a brush. Use a blending brush to blend the shadow.

Step Three: Apply CoverGirl Ink It! Perfect Point Plus in Black Ink along the top lash line. Then, use it to line your lower waterline.
Step Four: Apply the liner along your lower lash line, and then use a small eye shadow brush to blend it out with black shadow. Apply several coats of CoverGirl's Star Wars Mascara.

Step 5: Apply your foundation using a sponge, then lightly contour your cheekbones.
Muir then used the red eye shadow that was on my lids and dusted it over my forehead and cheekbones to give them an otherworldly sheen. Next, she used CoverGirl Bombshell ShineShadow in Ice Queen to highlight under my brow bones.

Step 6: Blot your lips with a paper towel to start with a clean slate. Apply foundation to your lips. Muir says this helps prime your lips for lipstick, and prevents your lipstick from bleeding. Blot again, then apply CoverGirl Star Wars Lipstick in Red #30 to your lips.
