Summer is all about trying lighter and brighter color looks, according to George Papanikolas, Matrix celebrity stylist. You always want to make sure you carefully select a look that properly flatters your skin tone, however, to keep the result from looking too harsh. Papanikolas suggests fairer skin tones try icy blonde shades this summer, as he says platinum and cool baby blonde looks are very flattering to those with porcelain skin with cool undertones. Those who have fair skin with warm undertones should try honey blonde and golden copper shades in order to achieve a natural-looking color result.

Darker skin tones shouldn't opt for matchy-matchy color looks, which can wash out your complexion, Papanikolas says. Instead, he recommends trying out brightening highlights in caramel and warm toffee brown tones. However, if you already have some existing highlights, celebrity colorist Deycke Heidorn recommends trying a fun and vibrant hue this summer, as it can add a fun splash of color to your look instantly. She recommends bold raspberry, pink or purple tones to create unforgettable contrast to your look.

Like darker skin tones, Papanikolas suggests that those with olive skin should play around with illuminating caramel tones this summer. However, he always recommends looking at your undertones first in order to get the best color result. Those with cool undertones look best with a darker base with hints of caramel and honey blonde while those with warm undertones look best with warm honey and caramel tones.

Oval faces tend to be the most proportionate, so they can pull off almost any haircut (long or short) of their choosing. With this mind, oval face shapes should feel encouraged to try out daring haircuts this summer. Pixies, in particular, can help welcome the coming season in with a bang.
"An oval face shape will look good with any cut, so if you have a long bob, you could go for a big change and have a pixie cut," Nate Bova, senior stylist at Warren Tricomi says.

Diamond shapes tend to have wider cheekbones and a more narrow forehead, making them ideal candidates for a short chin-length bob, according to Bova. How you cut your bob is very important, however. He recommends opting for a diagonal bob to help flatter your face.
