Is it just me or has there been a lot of black and white at Paris Fashion Week for spring/summer shows? Balmain brought back classic black and white houndstooth and Anthony Vaccarello had those badass grommet studded pieces. The whole thing has felt very ... European. But back in the real world (because we can't all strut catwalks and party internationally for a career), a bright punch of color can give your black and white separates a fresh new look. A perfectly matched red lip pulls everything together.
Okay, so models definitely have that "I can roll out of bed, throw on anything and look fabulously curated" kind of look -- but in this case her vibe is thanks to this sporty chic ensemble. If you're looking to add another trendy aspect to a cotton hi-lo dress, this season's varsity jackets with two-toned sleeves will keep the same vibe but adds an additional splash of color.
Those who know fashion know Yasmin Sewell. The Australian fashion consultant's look is always edgy, always fun and she's sort of a beauty icon of ours as well (her short, curly 'do is completely enviable). Yasmin's Paris street style came just in time to show us how to transition our summer maxi skirts straight into fall. The darker color paired with a patterned blouse in autumnal hues is seasonally appropriate and effortlessly chic.
Don't get me wrong; I love fashion, but trends are a whole other topic. When I spotted patent leather on the SS 14 runways via Versace and on celebrities like Rihanna and Miley Cyrus (neither of which make my list of fashion icons), I was thoroughly disappointed. Patent leather just looks like a colorful garbage bag to me.
Then I saw this savvy streetstyler. The deep emerald color and monochromatic ensemble pulled everything together. (And the holographic shoes don't hurt matters.) Damn, I may just be on board.

Any style that also appears to be comfortable is tops in my book. This oversized sweater paired with a skater skirt manages to look chic and effortless at the same time. Basically this is your typical comfy sweater and leggings look minus the leggings (release your grip, this is a good change). Plus, if you're dying to start wearing all those cozy fall fashions but the weather hasn't quite caught up with the editorials, this is an easy way to win in both worlds.
