With sheer, cutout and cropped fashion trends emerging as the season warms up, perforation has entered as an edgy-meets-elegant alternative. A sophisticated step up from see-through details like lace or fishnet, the perforated trend makes showing a little skin possible in the classiest way.

Which is why we weren't surprised when perforated details took over most of what was seen during the spring/summer fashion week runway events with chic circle skirts, edgy crop tops and lightweight jackets. Diving its way into the accessory realm, perforated pieces accented designer collections like Rebecca Minkoff, Top Shop, Rebecca Taylor and Balmain. The cult-like blogger following and celebrity endorsements finally proved a point about making your accessories summer-appropriate and still statement-worthy -- when in doubt, punch it out.

Spotted out in Los Angeles, Emma Roberts sported the "It" handbag silhouette of the season -- a tasseled bucket bag. Its perforated details play up the laid-back, warm weather season.
