NYFW Runway Look of the Day

Our favorite looks, straight from the NYFW 2014 catwalks

Vibrant Violet
This is what happens when classic New York aesthetic meets bohemian femininity -- a signature Nanette Lepore look. The high neckline of the handloom dress with the short hemline is decidedly downtown cool, while the bold print in shades of rose, black and white lightly accented with orange feels boho-chic. Styled with the shearling winter coat of our dreams in violet (aka radiant orchid, aka Texture and shape are key components for Fall 2014, and this dress from Naeem Khan's Fall 2014 RTW collection has both in spades. A shimmering green corset bodice gives way to a column skirt of black and green iridescent feathers. Inspired by cabaret, the dress strikes the perfect balance between sexy and feminine. With so much attention to detail on the dress itself, accessories are clearly unnecessary competition.

Sculptural Elegance
We've never met a sparkle or sequin we didn't like, but this dress from Zac Posen's Fall/Winter 2014 collection has us seriously considering a ban on baubles and disco ball dresses. Posen proved that he doesn't need shiny, shimmery embellishments and larger-than-life accessories to create a dress that commands attention. Textured fabric enhances the grand silhouette, which screams old-world glamour with its dramatic waist and voluminous skirt. The bold neckline is perfectly tailored, giving way to precise pleats that fall into a high-low hemline that looks classic rather than trendy. Vampy nails, a bold lip and classic black pumps keep the look streamlined and elegant. We're taking bets on which star will be wearing this to the Oscars in a few weeks.

Seeing Red
Our favorite Victoria's Secret Angel, Karlie Kloss, closed Venezuelan-American designer Carolina Herrera's show in this stunning red number. Embellished accents around the waist give way to a sleek, fitted skirt that looks even better in motion and balances the looser fit of the bodice. An off-the-shoulder neckline lets embellished straps peek through and ties the look together. Flushed lips and neutral eye shadow strike the perfect balance of fierce and girly when paired with a slicked-back oversize bun and larger-than-life statement earrings.

Leather & Feathers
Spotted on the Peter Som runway: an unexpected mix of classic, quirky and feminine. A drop waist is nothing new, but the designer reimagined it with a structured caramel leather shell and a feathered skirt, giving the feminine silhouette an edgy upgrade. The mix of textures works surprisingly well with leopard print booties in the same color palette.

The hair and makeup looks mussed and slept-in -- a rock 'n' roll contrast to the perfectly structured dress. Instead of pairing the deep side part with a sleek hairstyle like we've been seeing everywhere lately, this model's tousled hair was pinned to the side. Smoky, kohl-rimmed eyes and a nude lip always work well together, but the one thing we're surprised is missing: her brows. Will Cara D.-style brows be replaced with these barely-there ones come fall?
