As a teenage debutante in Richmond, Tinsley Mortimer says she has been experimenting with makeup and skincare from a very young age. While her signature southern charm can be traced back to her Virgina upbringing, most of us didn't get to know her until the early aughts when she became a veritable it girl on the New York social scene, culminating with her own CW reality show High Society. Fast forward a few years and she joined the cast of Real Housewives of New York only to leave three years later, in 2020, after her engagement to Chicago-based CouponCabin CEO Scott Klut.
So what's Mortimer up to now? She's happily living in Chicago where she recently took on the role of style & beauty editorial director at CouponCabin. In her new role she shares monthly blog posts on her favorite shopping tips and tricks showing her readers how they can save at luxury retailers.
In between her tracking down online savings we chatted with the blond beauty about all her beauty must-haves.
"This is a relatively new product I have been using for the past three months and I'm so hooked I already have my mom and my sister hooked too! I don't think you're supposed to use it twice a day, but I use this in the morning and before bed and my skin has never looked better. It's a lactic acid treatment, which I had never tried before. I will wipe my face in the morning with a Neutrogena cleansing towelette (another can't live without beauty product!) then use it and my skin looks so smooth and instantly glows. "This is the most amazing exfoliator ever and if you really want your skin to glow and shine you must try it. It smells good and the grit, which is magnesium crystals, is so fine. Your skin is immediately shiny and the texture is soft and gorgeous the moment you take it off. I use it once a week for best results to take off dead skin cells and prevent clogged pores. It's seriously amazing for the texture of your skin."
"I know this is a basic drugstore purchase, but it has totally solved my tanning cream and spray tan issues. If you use this everyday or even every other day as you would body lotion you will never have to tan again. It smells good and doesn't streak or come off on anything and you can smear it on without having to think about it. I do wash my hands after I put it on, but you may not even have to. It gives you such a perfect even tan and you can use it on your feet, knees and ankles without worrying about them looking orange or splotchy. The best part is it actually moisturizers your skin and doesn't dry it out like most self-tanners do. It makes tanning so easy and manageable."
"My sister Dabney got me to start using this product and I love it! Our mom is constantly telling us we must use hyaluronic on our face and I kept trying, but I never liked any of the products with it until this one. It has low and high weighted hyaluronic molecules that not only help hydration on the surface to reduce your lines and wrinkles, but they also go deep into the skin to hydrate deeper layers to help with firmness. I like the science behind it, even though that part is way over my head! It's expensive but worth it.
