Once upon a time you had to be a real life princess (or have the bank account of one) to be able to afford a designer wedding gown. These days, Prince Charming comes to brides-to-be in the form of Zac Posen and, more specifically, his new line of beautiful dresses for David's Bridal.
Truly Zac Posen, available at David's Bridal beginning Thursday, is Posen's gift to the bride-to-be.
"Truly Zac Posen is my love note to a bride on her most beautiful day," says the man who's designed couture gowns for everyone from Natalie Portman (his muse) to Uma Thurman and now...America. "I had been waiting on the right opportunity to design bridal for a larger audience," he says of his partnership with David's Bridal, which he credits with having an "unparalleled knowledge of the market."
The line of seven dresses -- each boasting Posen's signature skillful draping, corset work and body-conscious silhouette-ing -- sells at an affordable $850 to $1,350 price line, a far cry from what his designs typically fetch.
"Many brides feel that if they have a low budget, they cant afford anything that is fashion-forward, creative or, most importantly, high quality," bridal stylist Jackie Avrumson says. "So bringing a runway name (like Posen) to an accessible market allows all brides to feel like they can achieve a dream look."
Another bonus to the line is the fact that it's available in sizes 0 to 26, something that will come as welcome news to plus size brides who, till now, have been hard pressed to find fashion-forward, skillfully designed and beautifully crafted gowns in their size range. (Note: sizes 16-26 are "special order.") And, for the bridesmaid, there's also an offering of "Special Occasion" dresses that run from $195-$225.
"His new collection speaks to the beauty, grace and glamour that each woman deserves," says a Davids Bridal vice president. "Our consumers have been anxiously awaiting his standout designs."

"For lots of women, they only get their wedding as their major opportunity to wear a gown-- to have that romantic, nostalgic, red-carpet moment. Here they'll be able to go to David's Bridal, they'll be able to get the dress have it fit, and have a really unique, special piece. I've never seen any product like this at the market at this incredible price point." ~Zac Posen
