What Hygiene Habits Are You Embarrassed to Admit?
- Posted by Anna on July 7, 2011 at 01:17PM
I am not a clean freak, but I can get super intense over certain bad bathroom behaviors. In the kitchen, I seem to be laid back -- I'll do the occasional double dip, drink out of the carton, prescribe to the ten-second rule, etc. But when it comes to the bathroom, my switch flips.

I have a problem and I've finally decided to come clean: I'm a heel addict. I've tried (retail) therapy, but it only makes my issue worse.

I'm pretty sure flying cars have to be next. Now that scientists have developed an iPhone app that claims it can detect skin cancer, I feel like we're truly living in the future.

Dying your own hair is a cheaper alternative to costly salon visits -- not to mention the fact that its more convenient, especially if you want to go from honey-blonde to espresso in under an hour. But while changing your color can be fun, the splotches on your face that make you look like a character straight out of "The Lion King" aren't such a hoot. That's why it's crucial to learn how to get hair dye off skin.
The good news is that you dont have to go out and buy any fancy products. Here's how to get hair dye off skin using stuff you've likely got laying around your house:
Three Remedies for Pimples Under the Skin

Maybe this sounds familiar: You're standing in front of the bathroom mirror, running your hands over your freshly cleaned skin. But wait, what's that bump? It's not a pimple -- yet. No, it's worse: It's a pimple under the skin. Just a taunting physical reminder that you've got a breakout headed your way.
Food That Is Good for Skin

Think a perfect complexion starts with a trip to the spa? Head to the grocery store instead, says Ashley Koff, RD, celebrity dietitian and author of "Mom Energy." "A lot of us troubleshoot skin issues by reaching for topical treatments," says Koff. "But actually, what you put inside your body is what dictates how your skin looks -- and reaching for food that's good for skin can be especially helpful."

It's officially summer, and if you're lucky you'll be jetting off on vacation any day now. I, however, will be living vicariously through you while I'm chilling in my backyard wearing one of these face masks.

We've successfully cloned an entire sheep and five human embryos. Now, thanks to Fibrocell Science, Inc., we can get injections of our own cloned skin cells to fight wrinkles. What's next? Adamantium-infused bones a la "Wolverine?"
Effective Skin Lightening Home Remedies
- Posted by Stephanie on June 24, 2011 at 01:01PM
I thought about trying some skin lightening home remedies today, after reading this article on melt-proof summer makeup trends. All of the experts say I should be using only a tinted moisturizer for my face. But as much as I love the thought of ditching the weight of concealer and foundation this summer, it's hard to quit the security they provide. (My faves -- YSL Beauty PERFECT TOUCH Radiant Brush Foundation and Make Up For Ever HD Invisible Cover Concealer -- do such a great job at hiding my much-hated dark circles, faint scarring, and uneven skintone!)
It seems counterintuitive to use skin lighteners when everyone else is piling on the bronzers this season, but they can actually even out your skin tone and smooth your complexion as well. If you don't want to risk shelling out the big bucks and not see results (maybe you tried one of these products), consider giving these easy skin lightening home remedies a try.
Say What? Skin Care Advertising Hype Revealed

I consider myself to be somewhat literate when it comes to reading labels. Forty dollars for a maxi dress means I just scored myself a deal on a cute, trendy outfit. Three hundred calories for a poppy seed bagel means I will have to jump on the treadmill at some point today. Partially hydrogenated soybean oil means don't, under any circumstance, allow whatever it is into my mouth. You get the point -- one thing means another and I'm not a complete idiot.
