  • I caught up with the lovely Bobbi Brown, above, backstage at the Tory Burch show during New York Fashion Week. I'm always amazed at how calm she is in the midst of all the craziness. Anyway, she said that the best way to transition your makeup look from fall to spring is to just add one new product. Instead of changing your whole look to follow a trend that you may not end up loving, it's best to invest in one product that you'll be able to wear over and over again. This spring, expect to see new shimmering shadows in gorgeous silver and gray hues and a new illuminating bronzer that's supposed to look great on fair skin tones. I can't wait to get my hands on the bronzer. With fair skin like mine, finding a light enough bronzer (that doesn't look like dirt) is tough.

  • While backstage at Monique Lhuillier, I spoke with genius hairstylist Eugene Souleiman, above, who told me one of the most eye-opening hair tips I've heard lately. It sounds like a no-brainer, but I've never heard anyone say it before and it makes so much sense. He said to get the full benefits of any styling product you use, you must apply it to clean hair that is free of any other product. Not doing so is a main reason why women may think a product isn't working. He explained that products are designed to penetrate the cuticle of the hair and if there is something (like another product) getting in the way, the product won't work as well. Makes sense, right? I'm sure this isn't the case with every product, but it might explain a lot of product problems at home. Thanks Eugene!

  • You're never going to believe this, but before the models had their makeup done backstage at the Marc Jacobs show, all of the girls had their brows bleached white! I was shocked that they would spend the time to bleach them because they had to dye them back after the show was over. Not a look I would recommend recreating at home (it's not cute). But a makeup artist at another show explained that eyebrows are a focal point so when you take them away you don't focus on them. Makes sense if the idea is to look at the clothes! The rest of the makeup was so natural that it wouldn't be noticed either. (See the final result, below.)

  • I caught up with Mally Roncal, makeup artist and founder of Mally Beauty, backstage at the Tracy Reese show (one of my fave designers). Mally created a gorgeous spring makeup look for the show. See it above on model Shelby Coleman (pictured with Mally). It's a girly but sexy look we can all actually wear -- woohoo!

  • It's the end of Fashion Week and I am zonked. Ironically, I've spent the whole week making women look beautiful but as a result, my looks have gone straight down the toilet (read: puffy, red eyes, two pimples and dry lips)! Alas, I'll spare you a photo of myself and instead tell you about the most wearable look of all the shows I've worked on this week -- the no-makeup makeup at Rebecca Taylor.

  • Hey guys! Just finished Monique L'Huillier, a MAC-sponsored show keyed by the amazing Val Garland. I've seen her work in many editorials and have always wanted to watch her in action. Val's plan for the makeup was a bright golden eye with bronze tones along the lower lash lines.
