  • Not familiar with the brand Carol's Daughter? Well (if you're in the New York area) head over to Macy's Herald Square on Saturday, Sept. 13 to meet with their beauty advisors and learn about founder Lisa Price. Can't make it to the event? You can also see what TotalBeauty.com readers have to say about the line in our product reviews.

  • Victoria Beckham arrived at the Marc Jacobs show Monday night with a super-short new hair cut. It was all anyone could talk about apparently and everyone seems to love it. What do you think of her hair? Check it out from all angles below and weigh in with your opinion in the comments section.

  • I am in love … I have found a makeup look that I will fondly remember forever! I've just finished working on the Thuy show, keyed by MAC makeup artist Romero Jennings.

  • Backstage at the Tuleh show, hairstylist Yannick D'I was using a technique for curling hair that I hadn't seen before. He was using rolled-up rectangles of tin foil to set the models' hair. He simply rolled small one-inch sections of hair around the four-inch long roll of foil (like you would with a hot roller) and pinched the ends of the foil together to hold the section tight to the scalp. He then pressed a flatiron on the rolled hair (as you see in the second photo above) and held it there for just a few seconds. He did this all over the head and then let the models sit for 15 minutes to let the curl set. He said this approach to curling hair makes less perfect, but still gorgeous curls. Definitely a fun experiment to try at home.

  • The makeup at the Tuleh show was one of my favorites from Fashion Week so far. It was different than most of the others I've seen that were mostly pastel shades used to create soft, girly or very natural looks. This gold eye paired with red lips was a kicked-up, modern version of a classic Hollywood glam look. The gold color wasn't blended all around the eye as it may appear from these photos. There was a dot of it in the middle of the eyelids and then the bottom lash lines were lined, but the two areas of color were not blended together. That's what gave it a more edgy feel. The look was really stunning, and for everyday wear I'd recommend just doing the spot of gold shadow in the middle of your lids and skipping the line on the bottom lashes. It'll keep the look cool, not over-the-top. And don't forget to finish with a coat or two of black mascara.

  • Hello from Bryant Park! The stages are set, the bass is pumping -- backstage at Fashion Week is crazy busy and thank God I'm smack in the middle of it! I'm New York City makeup artist Emily Kate Warren and I'll be guest editing this week (as Kristen mentioned) to bring you the beauty scoop from behind the scenes.

  • It's day four of Fashion Week and of course I woke up this morning to find an unwanted friend on my chin. I know I haven't been sleeping enough, drinking enough water or eating right since I've been in New York, but it's just not fair for a pimple to pop up during Fashion Week. All I could think about as I was interviewing makeup artists today was the throbbing spot on my chin and how disgusted they must be by it. I've now become obsessed with asking all of the artists how they make models' skin look gorgeous midway through the week when their skin isn't behaving as well as it did before Fashion Week. It's true, models get breakouts too -- so at least I'm not alone.

We'll be getting the scoop on what beauty trends you can expect to see in the spring and share beauty tricks the hair and makeup pros use to make every model look amazing for her strut down the runway. We'll also introduce you to Emily Warren, a makeup artist and this week's guest editor. She'll be doing makeup for shows throughout the week and will give you an insider's sneak peek into the life of a makeup artist during this very hectic, but exciting time. Stay tuned ...
