The base coat is a quick drying opaque product and can be used by itself with the top coat for a slight sheen natural manicure. This base coat does however change the look of sheer nail polish to opaque. The top coat is equal to most in durability.

HIGH SHINE NO CHIP
I have used so many different brands of nail polish with pretty much the same results.. After a few days the color will chip and the shine fades.
Now for JOAN RIVERS NAIL POLISH and BASE & TOP COAT....
