    Not for me

This gave me dry patches and made me break out, and i don't like the smell. I don't even know why a "gentle" cleanser would need a fragrance in it.

Excuse Me While I Wash My Skin Off

I have always had dry skin (even when I was a baby). I heard so many things about Cetaphil through magazines, friends and review boards. I declared greedily to my mom that it "MUST be mine!" Looking slightly afraid of me, she drove to Wal-Mart. The frist thing I noticed was the price. Wow Nelly! I was expecting $8, but it was nearly $20! Not to be discouraged, I read the whole bottle and...read more gladly skipped to the check-out (which was when my mom started pretending she didn't know me). To my house I ran, so happy that I finally had the bottle which I was positive contained THE miracle cleanser. Forgetting that I had already washed my face an hour prior, I used this with such excitement that I think the neighbours stared strangely at me through the window. After washing it off, I put on my moisturizer and looked up at my skin. AHH! It was red, blotchy and immediately started to itch. It seriously would not stop. Thinking it was probably allergies, I used it that evening. I woke up with a combination of rash and new pimples. Joy. I have tried on other occassions to use it again and the results are always the same. Gosh, I don't think a good cleanser is in the near future for me.

At first I did not like it..

It took getting used to, since it is very gentle, but now I use it regularly and love it. I especially like washing with this cleanser in the morning- does not dry out my face. I must use a washcloth to get my day makeup off, but it works.

    Derma Recommended

I've been avoiding this cheapy cleanser since high school, but for some reason every dermatologist I went to would recommend it along with whatever prescription cream they were giving me. I've had acne FOREVER and I have to say this is the only cleanser that's gentle enough to use with strong acne medications but also effective enough to clear up acne. All the punch without the price, godda love this stuff.

They key word here is "gentle"

So for those who are complaining this cleanser doesn't leave you clean enough, you are probably used to more aggressive cleansers. With that said, this product does work. Several months ago I was on prescription Retin-A which made my already sensitive skin extra sensitive. I needed a facial cleanser that I could substitute for my regular cleanser for the time being as my regular cleanser became...read more too much for my skin at the time. Well, this product was perfect. It was indeed "gentle" and did not contribute to skin irritation. In fact, it was only one of two cleansers I could tolerate while I was under treatment. I do, however, agree it doesn't remove makeup too well. I don't wear a whole lot of makeup to begin with but I found I needed to wash my face a second time with this to remove what little I had on. For that reason I have had to use a makeup remover prior to using this. Another thing to note is this cleanser doesn't sud a whole lot (if at all) like other cleansers do, so you may feel like it's not cleaning enough simply because of that aspect. Rest assured, it is doing it's job. I have continued to use it off an on since then because of its gentle properties and I haven't had issues with itchy skin since then.

    CLEAN FACE

I WANTED A CLEANSER TO CLEAN BUT NOT TO DRY OUT MY SKIN AND PRODUCE MORE OIL ON MY FACE BEING THAT I HAVE OILY SKIN. CLEANSER MADE MY SKIN FEEL REAL CLEAN AND IN TIME MY BREAKOUTS HAVE REDUCED AND LESS OIL ON MY FACE.

    meh

For years my dermatologist would insist I use this stuff. Back then my skin was uber-oily, acne prone and resilient. It didn't make me feel clean or remove makeup. Now that I get more dry patches and at times have really irritated spots, I have turned to this when everything else, literally, hurt to use. But it doesn't take off makeup well, and is chockfull of ingredients like parabens.
