Very put off by the quantity of the product!!!
Well, I got this in three shades (all except Lavender) because I've read many positive reviews, so I was sure that I would like the product itself, and I was ready for the fact that there really isn't much of it in the package. This has been the only "con" for the majority of those who have reviewed these primers negatively. But let me tell you: There is even less than you think! I mean, even t...read morehough I was ready for it, I really didn't expect THAT little. Basically, there is a smaller tube inside the original, kind of tinted white plastic. That tube is the same color as the primer you choose and is considerably smaller than the outside container. BUT! Inside that tube, there is another tube which is already pushed half the way up, and that is where your 14 grams of primer are hiding! Very misleading packaging situation here, in my opinion. This is literally half the amount of a standard size foundation container, which is 30 ml. (roughly 30 g.). As far as the primers themselves, they are good, but not spectacular enough for me to repurchase at that price. $12 for 28 ml. of primer is a lot, considering that most people shop at "e.l.f." because they are on a budget and appreciate the fact that "e.l.f." is incredibly affordable. The Clear primer is completely clear and has a mattifying effect. It sets to a very smooth finish (not as silky as some of the high end primers but very smooth), and it makes your make-up go on very evenly while giving your overall look a much more perfected finish because your pores do becomes minimized/camouflaged by the product (as they do with most primers). To be honest with you, I didn't find that my make-up lasted any longer than it normally would, but yes, I did enjoy the fact that my face felt and looked much smoother. Green - pretty much the same thing. I didn't really find that it concealed redness very well, although I can't say that I have extreme redness anywhere on my face. I just expected it to even out my overall skin tone, but this didn't do it for me. However, it did preform just as well as the Clear primer did. And I haven't noticed any color at all after having applied it onto my face. Radiant Glow - not as shimmery to me as I've heard a lot of people mentioning. I honestly didn't have any problems with the very slight shimmer/glow that this primer gave me. If you like "e.l.f."'s Mineral Booster in "Shimmer", you won't have any problems with this primer. It's the kind of shimmer that's almost unnoticeable, but those who strongly dislike any trace of shimmer will definitely be put off by this type of finish. And, after applying my make-up, I couldn't even tell that there was even a hint of shimmer to begin with, so definitely not a problem for me. Preformed just the same as the other two, mentioned above. Basically, I see all three of these as the same, and will use them up but, like I said, they aren't spectacular enough for me to repurchase them at this price point. I mean, even for the same price, I would rather get another brand's standard size container. Saves me time and makes it more environmentally friendly since there is no waste on two separate packaged tiny tubes enclosed in two larger tubes. Ridiculous and misleading in my opinion. Favorite primer
I have oily skin and have tried numerous primers in search of the perfect formula. This primer is my new favorite! It doesn't cause breakouts and does better than any primer I've ever tried with controlling oil throughout the day. It still isn't perfect, but my skin is so oily, I just don't don't think any product ever will be. It goes on so smoothly and has no scent that I've been able to detect....read more It's not a huge bottle, but I need so little to do the job that it still lasts a long time, not to mention it's affordable so replacing it is never a problem. Great Value!
I introduced the ELF line to my sister at Christmas. She loves the Studio Mineral Face Primer. My sister has normal skin (not dry or oily) and this really works for her. UPDATE: Mineral Glow, Lavender and Clear
UPDATE 1/1/15: I recently tried the Mineral Glow and Lavendar colors, which turned out much better than the clear, which was my original review. The Mineral Glow was too glittery IMO and I would not repurchase; however, the texture was worlds better than the clear so that is a plus! The Lavender was actualy really decent! I don't think that the color actually leads to a "brightening" effect (which...read more is also why I didn't try the green as I thought it would be ineffective in that regard) but the texture, like the Mineral Goal, was WORLDS better! I would actually repurchase the Lavender again. It was smoothing and did minimize imperfections. I originally rated the Clear as a "4", but adding the Mineral Glow and Lavender, I would overall give it a "7!" I would definitely recommend this primer. I was a bit disappointed with the Mineral Glow as I expected it to be more "luminous" but it was definitely more glittery with a larger particle size and I just couldn't wear it, not even for the summer, so that was a no go. As a side note, Revlon makes a really good luminous face product in the Photo Ready line and it is super workable to add to foundation and it gives a very subtle and natural luminosity. Here is the original review on the Clear:..................... The texture of the clear was clumpy; it reminded me of the silicone gel used in implants. Because it sticks together in clumps so badly, the pump really doesn't work. It just gets clogged so I had to take it off to get the product out. It is a bit on the oilier side, but I did not experience oilier skin or breakouts. However, I really didn't experience anything with this product. It didn't make my makeup last longer, look better, minimize oil, pores or redness... I didn't experience any change. Better than L'Oreal
This primer is wonderful for the price. It is very moisturizing and does wonders for my dry skin. I have it in radiant, but next time I'll get it in clear, as the radiant color leaves me a bit too sun-kissed for my liking. But this combined with elf's stickfoundation leaves my skin flawless. Great Silicone Primer
I have had Smashbox Photo Finish Primer in the past. It didn't improve my skin texture, it made me oilier, and the pump broke. This product is super cheap and it works miracles on a bad skin day. It smooths the skin and holds my makeup on longer. It really helps to control oil. I can even get away with a dewier foundation if I put this underneath. It puts a nice barrier between your makeup and you...read morer skin and doesn't clog pores. It's very soothing and easily blended too. You need the tiniest bit smoothed over(half a pea size). And it has a pump! That works! What a novelty. I think everyone should try this out. It helps any flakiness lie flat for my skin too since I have Seborrheic Dermatitis. Good Formula, Cheapskate Packaging
Who can resist the temptation of a $6 primer from a brand well-known and well-loved? I sure couldn't. The formula is a gel-like consistency, which glides over skin and evens out the combination-oily skin I have. Though I haven't noticed any uneven patches of foundation when I layer it over the primer, I'm still a little concerned that my makeup is being applied on a Slip'N Slide. It wasn't until I...read more ran out of primer that I realized only a third of the packaging holds the product itself... I'm thinking, Is the empty space for increased airflow to make pumping easier? Did I really get $6 worth of foundation? Plus, the dispenser doesn't reach all the way to the bottom of the product container, which seems cheap.
