I didn't realize there were so many versions of this......
But I looked in my cabinet and realized I bought the Color Care one instead of the Volumizing one that I needed for my flat hair. I can't tell you if this did much to protect my hair color since I haven't had my hair colored yet. I happened to check out the reviews on the Volumizing one and now I'm kind of reluctant to try it since everyone gave it such bad reviews. This one however wasn't that...read more bad. It did pretty good to absorb my oil but I find that I had to use a lot to actually get the product to work. Also this only works good if you're planning to put up your hair because I found that this product leaves my hair goopy and heavy. It left my hair limp and flat with little volume.
