Definitely gets a big "NO" from me and my combination skin. Immediately made my skin even more shiny than it would have been without it!!!
I got this about six months ago and used it three times at most. Got it by one of my favorite YouTuber’s recommendation and, once again, confirmed to myself that I should always take my skin type into consideration, when following someone else’s makeup advice. This foundation comes in a plastic tube, which I didn’t really love but it’s fine… The texture is kind of moussy, and the produ...read morect itself feels very light and blendable when you work it into your skin. I didn’t need a lot of it to get light to medium coverage which, again, works for me because I usually prefer lighter coverage just to even out my skin overall. But! When I first applied it on my face, I told myself: Wait a couple of minutes until it sets and then go on with the rest of your makeup routine. So I waited… I obviously expected it to set because the name of this product suggests that it will set to a matte finish and keep you that way for most of the day. Now my skin type is “combination”, so logically you would think that this is the perfect skin type to test this product. But no, it never set to a matte finish and stayed kind of dewy. I continued applying the rest of my makeup which isn’t anything crazy… Regular setting powder and blush, followed with some mascara and lip gloss. I mean I don’t pile on ten coats of different powders or anything like that… This foundation, not only didn’t make my skin matte, but it immediately started making my skin look even oilier than it would normally be… I mean it wasn’t just my T-zone… I felt like it tried blocking all my pores, and my pores just said: No! This is the best way to describe it. So I tried a couple of times after this unfortunate experience; used it once with a primer and once without a moisturizer. Not using a moisturizer definitely helped but not enough to make my face matte anyway. It was just less oily overall. So no, I would definitely not recommend this product to anyone. It might be worth trying if your skin is extremely dry, but I honestly don’t think that a product that’s labeled “stay matte” should be targeted at dry skin. Can’t give this more than three stars, but don’t want to give less than three because below three is where I would place something that cannot be used by anyone. This review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 7 of 7 people said helpful

Beware: Makes you look older....
Since it is a matte foundation, it accentuates your fine lines and pores. This foundation is not long lasting at all. By half of my work shift, my skin was blotchy and the foundation was fading already and does not control oil like I was hoping. I was a grease ball 4 to 5 hours within wearing this product. The texture is the thickest I have seen on any foundation, making it kind of hard to blend a...read morend gets pretty cakey. It gives a medium to heavy coverage. It feels quite heavy on your face and I find that I hardly ever reach for this foundation. Waste of my money. This review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

I thought I was the only one!
I wanted to just LOVE this foundation, and I almost felt guilty coming into this after hearing so many great reviews about this foundation! My skin is oily in the summer and combination in the winter. I really love the texture but I had a few problems with this. One, it isn't buildable as some other reviewers have commented on. A little goes along way, and when you pass that point, it looks cakey....read more The application is also tricky - I found it easiest to use my Beauty Blender. My fingers added more product than I needed and I didn't find a brush as easy to work the product in. I would put a dab on the back of my hand and use a damp BB to apply and blend into my face. Two, the colors just weren't that plentiful. There are about 8 shades and True Ivory 103 was too light and Soft Beige 200 was a bit too dark and too pink. I did blend the two together, but I hate to take that extra step if I don't have to. Three, the immediate finish of the foundation was matte (which I actually don't prefer; I like a more natural or satin finish); however, it didn't keep my oil at bay. I tried this both with and without a primer (the Rimmel Stay Matte Primer actually) and didn't notice any difference in the longevity of the product or the matteness. Within about 3 hours, I had to blot. I would prefer 4-5 hours before blotting (for an oil control foundation), especially with a primer. If you are dry, you will definitely want to avoid this foundation (even if you are combo/dry I would say) because it will stick to dry spots and make skin look a bit dull IMO. It just didn't look like "skin." I would consider this foundation a matte finish absolutely, however, it just doesn't "stay matte." The packaging is so cute and the price point at $4.99 is incredible! I just wish it would control oil better and was a bit more buildable. Also, as a sidenote, I find that this foundation almost made flaws more noticeable; probably due to the "matteness" of the product. Others have said that Revlon Colorstay Creme looks better as the day wears on, and I think this product does, too - probably because the oils from the skin make the product look more natural. I also tried applying primer OVER the makeup and used a setting spray, but I still didn't really care for the finish of the product. This review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful
