Lancôme DreamTone Customized Skin Tone Correcting Serum, $98 Despite wearing layer upon layer of SPF, a big hat, and hiding inside between the hours of 11 and 3 every day, my freckles get darker in the summer. By the time September comes around, they're at their worst -- and I start devising a plan to snuff them out.

My product of choice this time around is this new serum from Lancôme, which contains a hydroquinone derivative to even out tone, as well as a pearl-like tint that makes your skin look more even. Unlike most one-size-fits-all brighteners, this one comes in three formulas -- for fair, medium, and dark skin.
