Think bold blue eye shadow is only for girls in dance recitals and women pre-"What Not to Wear" makeover? Think again.
Bold eye makeup is having a major moment -- and it isn't exclusive to runway models (or drag queens). Because this season is all about having fun with your makeup and pushing the envelope, I wanted to test-drive a dramatic look that toes the line between wearable and over-the-top. I do neutral smoky eyes on the regular, so I decided to take it even farther and test out a color from the new cinematic (think Technicolor) Nars Guy Bourdin Holiday Collection -- specifically, the electric blue shadow called "Wishful Thinking."
Even though a dramatic eye like this looks tough to recreate, it's actually pretty foolproof. The most important things to remember when doing a smoky eye is to blend, blend, blend -- and make sure to use a clean brush so you don't deposit any extra color all over your lids.
And just to prove this look is totally wearable for a regular night on the town, I skipped the gym after shooting this tutorial and insisted that my boyfriend take me out to dinner so I could show off my dramatic look. Here's how to get yours.
