Look of the Day: Lupita Nyong'o's Eye-Catching Tony Awards Makeup At last night's Tony Awards, nominee Lupita Nyong'o proved you don't need flashy makeup to absolutely slay the red carpet. This subtle summer look by makeup artist Nick Barose was one of our favorites.
"The look is fresh and summery, with warm orange and coral tones to play off of Lupita's Hugo Boss dress," Barose says. "For Lupita's eyes, I used a deep blue, and navy shades for definition. It's a softer look that pops against her glowing skin."
To create a smooth canvas for his makeup magic, Barose used Lancôme Advanced Génifique Youth Activating Concentrate and Lancôme Advanced Génifique Eye Light Pearl to prep her skin. To help reduce shine, he applied Lancôme La Base Pro Pore Eraser Mattifying Primer on Nyong'o's T-Zone area, following with the Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Makeup Stick in 550 Suede C as her foundation. To hide dark circles, Barose used the Lancôme Maquicomplet Complete Coverage Concealer in Deep Suede under the eyes and around the mouth.
To make Nyong'o's eyes the center of attention, Barose filled in her brows and added shape using Lancôme Sourcils Gel Waterproof Eyebrow Gel-Cream in 06 Noir. To lock her shadow in place, Barose prepped her lids with Lancôme Aquatique Waterproof Eyecolour Base in 06 Sienne, then dusted on Lancôme Color Design Sensational Effects Eyeshadow in Sapphire Lace. For the final eye-popping touch, Barose lined Nyong'o's eyes with Lancôme Drama Liqui-Pencil Longwear Eyeliner in Parisian Night and Lancôme Grandiôse Liquid Liner in 01 Matte Black, followed by a coat of Lancôme Grandiôse Extreme Mascara.
While Nyong'o may not have taken home the award for best leading actress, she definitely stole the show with this gorgeous summer look.
