Strobing Is the New Contouring. Here's How to Do It Flawlessly (With GIFs)Meet strobing, the superpretty, low-key alternative to contouring |
Strobing Step 9: Go Over It With Powder You want to set your look with a pearlized powder where the shimmer particles aren't too large, says McAdams. (That's how you avoid looking like a disco ball.) McAdams recommends Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder, $45, in Radiant Light, a golden-beige shade. We also like Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed, $38, which comes in five light-reflecting shades. When choosing a highlighting powder, it should be a similar shade to your cream or liquid highlighter.
Use a fluffy brush to lightly apply the powder. I'm using M.A.C. Mineralize Skinfinish, $32, in Lightscapade, recommended by Arlt.
"You want to simulate the way healthy skin looks when the light hits it, not like an oil slick," adds McAdams. "This look isn't about shine, it's about looking lit from within."
