Why: Another firming lotion that readers aren't sure "actually does anything to firm." Aside from that, "the texture is not so great, it doesn't go on... smoothly and takes a little bit of rubbing to get it in," one reader says. Another complains that "after a while the smell starts to turn horrid." And one reader has an odd reaction to it: "It stings badly when I put it on freshly shaved legs."

Why: While this lives up to part of it's name in that it "provides a subtle tan," readers don't love much else about it. "It never reduced hair growth," readers say. Even using it "consistently for weeks," one reader says it "didn't make any noticeable difference with stubble." One reader adds, "when I rubbed it on my skin it became somewhat flaky. It felt like I needed to bathe."

One reader doesn't actually believe the name: "I know shea butter, and this lotion does not have any of shea butter's benefits...The texture is not like shea butter at all...it is very watery. I don't know how much shea butter is actually in this bottle, but it feels like none." The final straw: "it does not smell natural, instead, quite perfume-y."
These days, we expect our body lotions to do a lot more than simply moisturize dry or itchy skin. We think that's only fair, a body lotion — or any other product — shouldn't make promises it can't keep, right?
