Having grown up in the Midwest, I know there's pretty much nothing worse than chapped lips -- especially in the negative-degree winter months. The blistering cold opens up doors (literally, the wind is that strong in Minnesota) for chapped, angry lips, and for us Northerners, it's not uncommon to have a lip balm stashed in every pocket and handbag compartment for when the cold strikes. Having tried hundreds of lip balms in my life (high-end and drugstore), you can guess I'm more than a little picky about them. Nivea Lip Butter Cocoa Butter, $2.99, meets all my requirements, and then some.
First and foremost, the scent alone is to die for. The sweet cocoa aroma is accompanied by a smooth buttery texture, which melts into chapped lips with soothing ease. While the lip butter smells divine, it doesn't come with a synthetic, chemically taste, unlike some flavored and heavily scented lip balms. The real star quality though? The lip butter is infused with supermoisturizing shea butter and almond oil, which instantly hydrate dry skin and leave lips looking luscious and full. Not to mention the butter's ability to withstand howling winds by acting as a hydrating buffer.
As for winter go-tos, this lip balm is a must. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the Stark family used it in-between makeout sessions in the North.

It can take a lot of effort to look effortless. (Case in point: No-makeup makeup that requires approximately 20 steps.) As someone who is always on the cusp of being late, the products in my daily routine need to make me look put together with the least possible amount of work on my part. I have my makeup routine down, but my hair is always a problem. Its stick-straight, fine texture resists even the most beloved salt sprays. So I either pull my hair back (which I hate), or take the time to curl it. After lamenting my problems to a stylist, she recommended I try Oribe Après Beach Wave and Shine Spray, $39.
The obvious: It smells ahhhamzing, like all Oribe products (no need to put on fragrance). The product comes out a little wet, so when you spray it on dry hair you have a few moments to scrunch for extra texture. The formula doesn't weight down hair or make it crunchy, and it's infused with a blend of oils and extracts to nourish hair and protect it from UV rays. Bonus: it also makes hair very shiny.
Unlike other texture sprays, this one can be used on either wet or dry hair. I normally spray it on my hair when it's damp and let it air dry in the car on my commute. When I arrive at my office, I have tousled, beachy waves that make me look like I've got my sh*t together -- even if I've just battled traffic on the 405 and rush-sneaked into my office five (okay, 10) minutes late. --Allie Flinn

Body lotion is not my friend. It's like I have a mental block against the stuff and can never remember to apply it (or I'm running late and choose to skip it). But in the winter, it's more of a necessity than a choice. (Scaly legs aren't cute -- even if they're hidden in tights.)
Curel Hydra Therapy Wet Skin Moisturizer, $10, is the only body lotion I've ever applied regularly. You put it on damp legs in the shower before you towel off, and it helps your skin soak up the hydration. It's unscented so there's no "am I in the mood for this fragrance?" concern. The pump makes it easy to apply in 20 seconds, and it doesn't rub off on your towel -- promise. I recently adopted an every-other-day shower routine (don't judge), and this moisturizer keeps my skin hydrated for a full 48 hours. It's truly a lotion hater's dream product. --Dawn Davis

I've never been a good sleeper. Between my racing mind and knack for sinking into a Netflix rabbit hole or juicy novel right before bedtime, I never seem to catch enough zzz's. And it shows: Right under my eyes...in circles that have only become more defined over the years.
While I dutifully slather on under-eye treatments morning and night, day-to-day I need a quicker fix, which I've found in It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Anti-Aging Concealer, $24. I'm not saying it's magic, but if you told me it was conjured by Hermione Granger in Potions class, I would totally believe you.
Its thick, creamy, full-coverage texture makes dark circles vanish -- in a poof-they're-gone kind of way -- without creasing. It's also got a slightly dewy finish that brightens the area, making me look more awake. Plus, the formula contains skin-loving ingredients, like vitamins C and K, which makes me feel like I'm cramming in as much under-eye TLC as possible.
And like any person who claims to witness the supernatural, I've quickly become a Bye-Bye Under Eye evangelist. Once I went as far as to forcibly apply it to some of my most over-worked, under-rested pals during a girls' weekend. (After seeing the product's peeper-perk-up powers, they became believers, too.) So even though my mind still races at night, I don't ever lose sleep over my under-eye circles. --Mary Squillace

Recently my male coworker made reference to my "natural" blonde hair. ROFL! Boys, right!? I guess he's not hip to the fact that pretty much every adult woman with baby-blonde highlights pays for them. And, boy, do I pay for them -- with ever-drier, ever-tanglier texture from increasingly frequent dalliances with bleach.
Then I used Kérastase Initialiste Scalp & Hair Treatment. When I rub a few drops on my hair, it becomes so dreamily silky, frizz-free, pleasantly perfumed and manageable that I can't stop running my fingers through it. (Another novelty: being able to run my fingers through it.) I even deemed it worthy of carting along on my twice-monthly, carry-on-only plane trips out of state.
I'm almost through with the bottle, but I'm so desperate at the thought of not having any left that I'm trying not to use it, letting the last bit linger in my medicine cabinet like a precious relic. I know it doesn't make sense. Then again, neither does shelling out $60 for 2.2 ounces of hair serum -- that is, until you try it. --Katie McCarthy
