Best: Flower Beauty by Drew Barrymore
Drew Barrymore's Flower Beauty brand is exclusive to Walmart, and that's just one reason it's impressive: It feels seriously high-end despite cheaper-than-a-cup-of-coffee prices.

Barrymore is involved every step of the way, pushing for great formulas and pretty packaging -- plus, Flower doesn't spend money on advertising, saying they allocate more funds for product development. Barrymore also takes her role as a female entrepreneur in the beauty industry seriously. She told us at the launch event that she hopes her daughter, Olive, will someday take over the business.

Best: Kora Organics by Miranda Kerr
Just when I thought I couldn't love Miranda Kerr any more, here comes Kora Organics. All the products are certified organic and fair trade. It's also vegan, and free from sulfates, parabens, and synthetic fragrances. Clean would be an understatement.

Best: The Honest Company by Jessica Alba
To hear Jessica Alba talk about The Honest Company is to get a lesson in responsible, eco-conscious living. She's a walking, talking encyclopedia of green, natural, and sustainable ingredients and products. In addition to spearheading a company that produces dozens of affordable, green products, she wrote a book on the subject ("The Honest Life: Living Naturally and True to You").

Best: Josie Maran Cosmetics
When model Josie Maran first created her Argan-centric line, no one had ever heard of infusing beauty products with the super-hydrating oil. Now it's everywhere. So is she a scientific genius or just the first one to lay claim to the trend? Every product Maran develops -- from blush to shampoo -- is a solid performer, not a disappointment in the bunch.

Best: IMAN Cosmetics
IMAN Cosmetics was created by supermodel Iman almost 20 years go, and it was the first makeup and skin care line specifically made for women of color. "It was more than foundations and powders; it was appealing to a deep psychological need that I think all black women needed at that time: To be told that they were beautiful, invited to sit at the cool table and courted in high style," Iman said in an interview with WWD about her line.

When the BB cream craze hit a few years ago, many brands launched with only one or two shades, which rarely worked for women with darker skin tones. Iman stepped in and brought six shades to the market, satisfying a serious demand yet again.
