Here's How to Wear Eye Makeup and Contact Lenses, Irritation-Free

Putting on your makeup should be painless and easy

Avoid clumpy mascara
Clumpy mascara looks unappealing even for someone who doesn't wear contact lenses but it may be dangerous for people who do. Clumps and flakes could fall into your eyes and become trapped under your lenses, which is never fun.

Invest in daily lenses
Using a fresh, clean lens every day minimizes the build-up of makeup debris that may or may not be trapped in your lenses (we don't judge). It may be more expensive, but you can't beat it for the convenience factor.

Always clean your lenses
If you're not really into daily lenses, be sure care for your lenses diligently. Always clean your lenses with doctor-recommended solutions and make sure to replace them according to the recommended schedule. Oh, and don't forget to clean your lens cases on a daily basis!

Take out your contact lenses before removing your makeup
Your makeup remover, no matter how gentle, may end up damaging your lenses and irritating your eyes, so always make sure to take them out first. Removing your contact lenses before your makeup will help them stay clean — you don't want them mixing with whatever makeup you're removing. In fact, consider taking them out as soon as you get home — your eyes deserve a break!
