Are your favorite brands actually cruelty-free?

Milk Makeup
With innovations like its high-performing Kush High Volume Mascara, $24, that replaces the traditional beeswax with CBD oil to create vegan formulas, Milk Makeup is definitely a cruelty-free and vegan brand worth watching.

Beautycounter
Beautycounter has been shaking up the beauty industry with its "Never List," a list of potentially harmful chemicals often found in beauty products, ranging from preservatives like formaldehyde (yep, the same stuff they used to preserve those frogs you dissected in high school) to endocrine-disrupting parabens. One of the biggest items on its Never List? You guessed it: Animal testing.

ColourPop
ColourPop is known for its high quality and low prices — and now, you can add cruelty-free to its list of positive attributes. So, keep on stocking up on those Super Shock Shadows, $5, and those new No Filter Foundation Stix, $10.

Glossier
Ultra-popular beauty brand Glossier is happily cruelty-free and offers a range of vegan products, too. Fun fact: When Lash Slick, $16, (already one of our favorite new mascaras of 2018) was mistakenly listed as vegan (it contains beeswax), the brand pre-emptively refunded all of the customers who'd purchased it. How's that for customer service?
