"This process makes sense for clients who want in on the fantasy color trend but don't want to live the look 100 percent of the time," says George Alderete, creative color ambassador for Keune Haircosmetics North America. Instead of wearing a whole head of vibrant purple or green, he recommends opting for little peeks of pink or lilac around the fringe instead.

"The 2019 twist on inky black hair is rich and deep with a hint of blue," says Stephanie Brown, master colorist at the Eddie Arthur Salon. This shade is made for the glass hair trend because the black gives it that reflective shine, she says.

"Lady Gaga in A Star is Born sported a fiery orange-red shade that inspired people to start rocking this attention-grabbing color," Brown says. Since the movie is trending again for award season, expect to see more people rock this shade, she predicts.

"I predict a major move toward powdered metallics," says colorist Brandon Wagner, owner of Tribeca Color Salon in Tampa, Florida and North American creative director for Crazy Color. "Powdered metallics have a velveteen texture due to their three-dimensional nature, he says.
