Hailee Steinfeld knocked lavender eyeshadow out of the park at the 2017 Golden Globe Awards with this matte mauve eye look. It's a more neutral take on purple shadow and paired with her demure pink lip, it looks quite polished and princessy. Up for recreating this eye look yourself? The Dose of Colors Marvelous Mauves Palette, $32, gives you all the gradations of color you need.

Few people on this planet can rock colorful eyeshadow shades quite as well as Lupita Nyong'o — and this might be just one of her best looks ever (especially paired with her fabulous purple Giambattista Valli gown). Since Lupita is an ambassador for Lancome, the Lancome Color Design 5 Pan Eyeshadow Palette in Jacaranda Bloom, $50, might be a good starting point.

How's this for a purple eyeshadow look? With her Gothic literature heroine looks, Keira Knightly makes a lavender smoky eye look equal parts classic and editorial. The secret to her makeup here? Rich, metallic shades of purple with a silvery shift, much like the colors in the Maybellline Eye Studio Color Plush Silk Eyeshadow Quad in Purple Icon, $9.99.

Here's another critically acclaimed actress who makes lavender eyeshadow seem like something classy and vintage: Ruth Negga, who wore a beautiful cat-eyed purple smoky eye like nobody's business. Start with a deep purple that leans close to taupe , then dust a liberal sprinkling of metallic lavender over the top. We think the Pat McGrath Labs Mothership III Eyeshadow Palette - Subversive, $125, would be a great starting point when it comes to recreating this gorgeous look.

This look leans a little more high fashion, appropriately so, since Llly Collins was attending a fashion show for Chanel when she wore it. She used a bluish grape shade for a wash of all-over color on her top lid, drawing it outwards into a futuristic wing shape. A nice purple shadow that leans a little blue like Surratt Artistique Eyeshadow in Violaceous, $20, will do you well for this look, especially if you top it off with your favorite mascara (or even a pair of falsies, if you're feeling particularly festive).
