Beauty Products I've Been Going Steady With
- Posted by Kristen on August 1, 2010 at 04:07PM
I get beauty product ADD with all the bazillion choices out there. I'll try something for a week (or a day), then skip to something else, and another and so on It's probably because as a beauty editor, I come across so many misses like the 16 worst makeup products, but as of late, I do have some new faves that have been holding my interest. And I thought I would share them with you since I always love to hear of others' finds:

Eat Your Way To a Younger-Looking Face With These Anti-Aging Skin Care Tips
- Posted by Kristen on July 27, 2010 at 04:44PM
My mom's words, "eat something green or orange" still resonate in my head when I open the fridge to make myself lunch. She used to say that to me on the regular -- especially when I was a malnourished college student enjoying carb orgies and beer, and not enough fruits and veggies. But the older I get, I feel more and more drawn to her adage. I've noticed that what I eat really does affect my looks (find out if your diet is making you look old) and that even the best anti-aging creams alone can't fight aging (see the 6 most overly-hyped products).

New Skin Care Product That'll Give You Feet as Soft as a Baby's Tush
- Posted by Kristen on July 23, 2010 at 07:03PM
As we all know, summer is both a blessing and a curse for feet. We all rejoice when sandal season comes around and then grumble at the cracked heels and calluses that come with baring our soles (sounds dramatic, but having nasty, crusty feet can be that dramatic). Between my love of flip-flops and days of padding around barefoot on hardwood floors, my foot files and creams just can't keep up.
Celebrity Hairstyles Poll: Can You Spot the Real Redhead?
- Posted by Kristen on July 23, 2010 at 04:50PM
In recent beauty news, a so-called redhead confessed that she's actually a blonde (hint: she's one of the three women pictured). It got me thinking, how many other red-haired stars don't have, ahem, matching carpet and curtains?
Makeovers for the Homeless? Yup!
- Posted by Kristen on July 22, 2010 at 06:12PM
I for one love a good makeover. I'm not just talking makeup or hair makeovers either (though they are my faves, sorry can't lie), but makeovers that involve the soul -- changing oneself physically or mentally in order to feel better or raise one's self confidence -- you just can't beat that. Makeovers often get flack for being superficial, but the truth is, that when used effectively and in the right mindset, changing up your makeup or hairstyle can actually be liberating. How? You are choosing to take time for yourself, to enhance your inner beauty and make yourself shine a little brighter -- literally and metaphorically.
Get Demi Lovato's Award Show Look with Her Skin and Makeup Tips

The VH1 2010 Do Something! Awards on Monday night exceeded my expectations. Unlike most award shows that acknowledge artists for their singing, dancing, acting and whatnot -- this one honored celebs and real people alike from Snoop Dogg to Joe Shmoe from Ohio for making a difference (see the 23 charities we love).
Light-Up Tweezers -- A High-Tech Makeup Gadget Must-Have
- Posted by Kristen on July 20, 2010 at 10:07PM
I have found that the best lighting for tweezing brows happens to be in the car -- no joke. Without fail each morning as I sit in Los Angeles traffic, I flip open my visor mirror and -- bam -- I see each and every stray hair that I somehow missed, or more like, never saw. You really need quality light to pluck brows -- ask any pro.
Which is why on this third day of reporting live from Cosmoprof North America, my "best in show" beauty product pick of the day are the La-Tweez Pro Illuminating Tweezers, $24. These are the Porsche of tweezers. Not only do they have a super sharp, precise, stainless steel design (with handy triangle cutouts along the sides for improved grip), but these babies light up. With one touch of the very snazzy Swarovski crystal button, on pops a very bright LED light that helps you see each and every hair -- even my fine blonde ones. And the light has auto shut-off to boot.

Coffee -- it's one of life's little pleasures and one of those legal substances that we all like to use and often abuse. We love its ability to put a pep in our step each morning and how the aroma alone has the power to drag us out of a sleepy fog, comfort us -- and yes, signify to us that energy is on its way.
