  • My colleagues here at TotalBeauty.com can attest to my love of braided hairstyles. I sport one weekly. They are a great way to disguise hair in need of washing and to ease the pain of growing out bangs. So today I'm giving props to our favorite "Gossip Girl" Blake Lively for the romantic braided style she wore to the "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2" premiere. Doesn't she just look lovely?

  • Maggie Gyllenhaal, who stars as the female lead in "The Dark Knight," isn't usually known for her hair, but her recent public appearances have stood out as potential short hair icon material. (Go Maggie!) We think her pinned-up version and her ultra-glamorous ringlets are both great ways to wear a short bob hair cut. Which do you like better?

  • What's this? Is Britney back? The pop star is showing strong shadows of a fit, fab Britney circa 2001. She looks great in this photo, although something is a tad wrong with her almost-perfect 'do: her short roots don't quite blend into her long hair extensions. Some layers could have helped better blend the two lengths. Any other suggestions on what she should do with her hair?

  • Remember when Lindsay was a cute-as-a-button redhead in the remake of "The Parent Trap"? Oh how things have changed. But it in recent photos of Lindsay, it seems that she may be letting her natural hair color grow out.

  • While Keira Knightley stands up for her breasts, let's take some time to admire her natural hair color: brown. While promoting foreign film "The Edge of Love," she showed off a chestnut-hued side twist -- the perfect updo to complement her sweet, romantic look.

  • I'm not a regular viewer of "Hannah Montana," but thanks to my little sister I have caught a couple episodes so I know the basics. Miley Cyrus wears the blonde wig when she's Hannah Montana to keep her pop star life separate from her "normal teen" life on the show. Honestly, it's not much of a disguise but going from brunette to blonde is a pretty big change. Personally I think she looks better as a brunette -- but maybe I'm biased (my profile picture should explain why). She still looks cute as a blonde, and would probably look even better if her eyebrows were lightened slightly to match but I'm still partial to her natural hair. What do you think? Natural brown or blonde wig?

  • OK, so we can't only talk about the good looks, can we? Madame Tussauds recently unveiled its Tyra Banks wax figure in New York. As you can see from the picture below, they did a pretty good job. Her face looks gorgeous and the makeup is quite sexy. But I have to wonder why they put the ugly blondish streaks in the front of her hair. Tyra's hair doesn't look like that now (see the real-life photo of her below the wax version) and I can't ever recall a time when it did. This is a pretty tacky look and it seems like wax Tyra is stuck with it for the time being. What do you think of Tyra's hair? Should she demand a re-wigging or just deal with it?

  • I'm kicking off the day by showing off two photos of Gwyneth Paltrow. She's definitely an inspiration when it comes to style, hair and makeup for me. When she recently lopped off her long hair, I did too. Silly, I know, but I was ready for the change and she confirmed that it was time for me to let my long hair go. Though I did leave mine a bit longer than hers. Either way, Gwyneth is more gorgeous than ever and I love her new-ish short cut, straight and curly.

  • I go to a pro to get highlights in my naturally mousey blonde hair and always have. I have never trusted myself enough to do color at home. But we recently shot a how-to video on creating highlights in dark hair (much trickier than in light hair) using a box hair color. I was beyond impressed with the results our expert was able to achieve (yes, we used an expert to apply the color while showing all of us at home how to do it -- but he did use a L'Oreal box hair color). You must see the Create Gorgeous Highlights at Home video and if you use any of these suggestions let me know. I'm so tempted to try doing my own highlights now. What do you think? Good idea? Bad? Any tips or suggestions you want to share with me?
