Road Test: The Best Makeup on PinterestWe tried the fall makeup trends everyone's pinning to help you figure out which looks are worth trying to mimic. Here are the ones to try |
Smoky eye and red lip One look that never goes out of style is the smoky eye/red lip pairing. My trick to pulling off this classic combo was selecting an eyeshadow that was more brown than black so it would complement the almost burgundy lip hue. I opted for Too Faced Natural At Night Neutral Eye Shadow Collection, $36. Then to highlight the lid and under-eye I layered on "Unbelievable" from Lorac Unzipped Eye Shadow Palette, $40. And after seeing Kat Dennings on the Emmy's red carpet wearing Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick in Iconic, $28, I knew it would be the perfect rich red tint for my lips.
My hints: To keep the smoky eye from looking too dark, don't use the same brush to apply and blend. Apply the dark shade along the crease and then use another clean, fluffy brush to blend outward. I also layered the liner on last so it would be one clean line -- no shimmery residue on top.

The pins are superior to the woman featured. :( Disappointing.

I really appreciate seeing a woman of color recreate the look to fit her skin tone. It gives women of color inspiration to recreate "high-end" looks. I do wish her products were a little more budget friendly. I didn't care for every single look but it was nice to see her attempt the looks anyways.

Pretty makeup looks but definitely not going to go out and buy these products just to recreate these faces. I'll stick to the less expensive makeup brands!
